Emerald backs up closer to the cliff and attempts to goad one into leaping onto him so he can knock the creature down.

The two monsters circle around Emerald, and seeing that they are trying to get to his blind spot pretends to focus hard onto one of them. The trick works, and Emerald hears the one he isn't focusing on charge at him. He turns swiftly, but isn't quite fast enough to get out of the way, and the creature lands on his back.

Emerald feels searing pain as the creature thrusts his nose into him, but Emerald bucks wildly, causing the creature to fall off behind him. Emerald quickly turns towards the remaining monster and gives a few wild slashes to make sure he doesn't get close.

The monster backs off slightly and stays a few paces back, watching Emerald. The two stare at each other for a long moment, and then the creature lunges forwards again.

Emerald slashes at the creature, getting him good across the face. The monster flinches from the slash, and after falling over backwards scrambles to his feet and flees towards the dark cave.

Emerald stands there for a second, breathing hard. He attempts to walk towards the slopes leading off the cliff, but his legs start to tremble and he has to sit down. He feels like throwing up. He supposes the adrenaline is wearing off… He can't believe he just did that. He survived, but he had to kill another living creature to do it, and injure another.

Emerald shakes his head, he feels like he is going to pass out. But he can't, he just can't yet. He has to get away… far away…
