Artist's Description

Came up with a story for the Starlight/Flim family in the shower today, it was so good that I got the itch to design their twin daughters!

Meet Astrid Quartz (left) and Cherry Quartz (right)! …They absolutely can't stand each other.

Astrid, the older of the two twins, born a perfectly healthy unicorn with a creative mind, a fiery, (seemingly) confident personality and sass for days — she's Dear ol' Dad Flim's favorite while Cherry, the younger, disabled unicorn (born without a horn and with uncontrolled latent magical miasma) powerful, determined to try her hardest and much kinder/soft spoken has always been Starlight's favorite. It's very obvious.

As a result of a tense, very resentful household and some next level awful parenting, the twins are awful to each other. Which, given that their talent works together, leads to a lot of issues. Cherry gets along with mostly everyone else, meanwhile Astrid, jealous of how much more magical potential her sister and every other Royal has, is much more cold and mean, who tends to manipulate and sweet-talk to get her way. Still if you pierce her shields, she's a sweet soul deep down and very fun to be around.

It hasn't come to a head with these two yet but when it does, the whole of Ponyville needs to watch out…
