Okay but for a few seconds there I was genuinely worried. In every EG climax, awesome as they all are, you’re never really worried for the girls. After all, when the stakes are “the fate of the world/entire multi-verse,” there isn’t much room for failure. But permanently losing all their memories? That’s something that is juuust tame enough for Hasbro to get away with.

I went into this Special not knowing if it’s supposed to be the Grand Finale for Equestria Girls. And yeah, there was a moment where I genuinely wondered if it would end with either Sunset Shimmer forgetting all her friends, or (more likely imo) all her friends permanently forgetting her. I’m not sure which is more tragic. But one thing’s for sure; this scene was absolutely heartbreaking.
