General Info:
He's Rarity and Fancy's oldest son. He's almost a polar opposite to his parents, he's a wild child and never cared much for his reputation. He rarely spends too much time in one place, he travels the world hunting gems with his group of Diamond Dog friends. He tends to come of mean or scary to other ponies by the way he speaks and his lack of manners, it's because he spends so much time with dragons and Diamond Dogs that he forgets the manners his parents taught him, so it takes him a while to remember to be nice when he's back in Equestria.
His cutie mark came about the same way that Rarity's did thanks to her teaching him her gem finding spell. He makes a living as a gem provider and is renowned for providing only the highest quality stones.

Relationships:
He has a surprisingly good relationship with both of his parents, he's never been the best behaved child so both Rarity and Fancy have come to love that about him. Sterling loves pestering his dad and they often joke around with each other. He also is very close to his mom, she taught him all he knows when it comes to gems so he is very grateful to her, he often sends her the prettiest gems he finds because he knows how much she loves them.
He also has a baby sister whom he adores, [they're the same age distance as Rarity and Sweetie bell] if he ever comes back home to Canterlot, he teases that Beignet is the only reason he does. He spoils her rotten any chance that he can get, they're both very close to each other.

He's not particularly close to any of the mane 6's children besides Diamond Dust, his closest friends are his diamond dog companions and his pet hawk [Topaz Glare, taz for short] that he raised from an egg. He's trained it to be a messenger hawk, which makes it easy for him to send letters to Diamond Dust and his family whenever he's no where near a post office.

He's in a long distance relationship with Diamond Dust. They're always writing letter to one another and that's the main way they keep in touch because of Sterling's nomad tendencies. They're very close and are ever faithful to each other.
