Description:

Friendship Is Magic: The Next Generation begins thirty years after the birth of Princess Flurry Heart, and the story is… a bit darker and more complicated than My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic before it. It delves into the backstory around Alicorns, where they came from, why Discord is the only Draconequus, and who is the prisoner in the deepest darkest cell of the cosmic oubliette that is Tartarus…
(And admittedly, FIM:TNG does take some liberties with the events of MLP:FIM, mostly in regards to Equestria Girls and all episodes after and including The Cutie Re-Mark. That will become more apparent when it comes to the character bios for Sunset Shimmer, Flash Sentry, Starlight Glimmer, and others.)

Here is FIM:TNG's next-generation Trixie, Carbonado Francis Xanthia Pie, age 21, also known as Carbonado Effect, the daughter and only child of Trixiebelle Lulamoon & Maudaline Daisy Pie RD (Rocktorate Degree). She acts as a traveling stunt-performer… so she says. She left the Pie family rock farm behind not long after she got her cutie mark, to try to show up and upstage her cousin Shamrock Apple. And I don't mean "cousin" in relation to the Apple and Pie families. I mean in relation to Twilight Sparkle and Trixie, half-sisters.

In celebration of their first wedding anniversary, Night Light & Twilight Velvet attended a Las Pegasus show of one Jack Pot and his partner Big Bucks. Velvet loved stage performances and it was Night Light's treat. Going backstage so that Velvet could meet the performers, the young married couple shared many drinks with the pair of performers, and Twilight Velvet ended up pregnant with Jack Pot's foal. The resultant filly was delivered to Jack Pot & Big Bucks, as her resemblance to Jack Pot was unmistakable and Velvet did not wish to ruin her family's image in Canterlot. Trixiebelle Lulamoon spent some early time in her dads' care before being shunted off to Jack Pot's stepsister Mayflower. After failing to join Princess Celestia's School For Gifted Unicorns, Trixie endeavored to survive on the road as a showmare, like the fathers who had returned to Las Pegasus. Additionally, Trixie's attempts to upstage Twilight came from a desire to put her more fortunate little sister in her place. When she lost the Alicorn Amulet, she realized how much harm her blunder could have caused… and left to go back to her old performing ways. When she overheard that an intruding Unicorn had broken into her sister's castle in Ponyville, she decided to pay a visit to her now-Alicorn half-sibling. She came for her sister, but she stayed for Starlight Glimmer.

Her special talent is being able to bore through any solid material no matter how strong. She took her middle names and shortened them to Effect (from F.X.) to live up to her mom Trixie's stage persona. This is wordplay as a reference to The Carbonaro Effect, a show about the magician Michael Carbonaro performing practical jokes involving his magic tricks. But Carbonado Effect is not necessarily all show, nor does she take to practical jokes. She is more than capable of carving tunnels through solid stone, even through thick veins of metal ore. She just happens to be much more showy about it than her cousin Shamrock is.
Carbonado's cutie mark on its own

Carbonado's mane and tail naturally have grown out the way that they appear: like a porcupine's spines. It is a full-headed mane, not a mohawk. And she uses it as part of how she makes use of her special talent. She may have inherited something Pie-ish in the ability to curl up into a pinball-ish shape, which makes her spiny mane and tail into something of a gigantic buzzsaw able to slice through any rock or metal. Think of it like a Spin Dash from Sonic the Hedgehog.

Personality-wise, she takes after the singular personalities characteristic of her ma Maud and her Pie aunts. It just so happens that her personality can be summed up by "Trixie turned up to eleven". And this means that much of her attitude can generally be summed up by "will this help me steal the spotlight from my cousin Shamrock?". She continues her mother's self-appointed rivalry with Twilight Sparkle, albeit with Twilight's daughter. Carbonado as she's pictured here likely has had to face the disappointment of breaking an apple tree in two with her kick to try to overshadow Shamrock, only to realize that that is not the goal of applebucking and that Shamrock is still number one there.

As a filly, Carbonado Effect grew up partly at her moms' home in a cave of crystals and waterfalls on the outskirts of Ponyville, and at the Pie family rock farm. Maud was an Earth Pony among Earth Ponies and Carbonado learned the craft of rock-busting at her hooves, but she also had ambitions to learn from her aunts and grandparents other facets to rock-farming, albeit with no interest whatsoever in being a rock-farmer. If Shamrock can shake apples out of trees with her bucks, then Carbonado can bust through wood and stone and steel…! After she got her cutie mark, she left the rock farm altogether and shadowed Shamrock around Ponyville to finish the Trixie-Twilight rivalry by being the "better" Earth Pony.
Carbonado refers to Trixie as Mom, Maud as Ma, and Mudbriar as Pop.

Carbonado's coat color comes from Boulder. Her mane color comes from Limestone's eye colors, with the streak coming from the star in Shining Armor's cutie mark. Her eyecolor comes from the gem on Trixie's cloak. Her cutie mark's auger brace takes its colors from Marble's eyes and Twilight Sparkle's eyes, and the black diamond comes from what the original interpretation of Maud's cutie mark was.

After she came to stay in Ponyville following her making friends with Starlight Glimmer, Trixie mostly lived out of her traveling stagecoach. After Maud Pie dropped into Ponyville to consider finding a place to live, though, Pinkie pushed her into making friends with Trixie, not with Starlight like in the show. (This is because Starlight's redemption arc is handled slower in my personal canon than the show has, and she's spending much of her time on a figurative leash at Sunset's side.) The efforts almost caused more harm than good, but it did end up finding a home for Maud, so all was good in the end. Contrary to popular belief, Trixie had not met Maud while working at the rock farm between Boast Busters and Magic Duel; Maud was busy the past few years earning her rocktorate, after all. So although Trixie would NEVER join Maud in visiting the in-laws at the farm, she had no such baggage about spending time with Maud. They became infatuated with each other shortly after finding Maud's new home in these alternate events of Rock Solid Friendship, which we could probably call Rock Solid Relationship instead. Some of the drama in The Maud Couple came from Trixie wondering if Maud liked her or this new Mudbriar character. It soon became clear that Maud was "in like" with both of them and wanted both Trixie and Mudbriar. Maud enjoys Trixie's melodramatic overtures; they make her laugh inside. Trixie will not rest until she can make Maud laugh on the outside or even crack a smile. It's a shame that Maud's expressions are so microscopic that only Pinkie can really read them. Mudbriar and Trixie are not themselves "in like"; they "share" Maud, essentially. Trixie finds Mudbriar to be dull and tedious to deal with, and Mudbriar finds Trixie bombastic and repetitive. They tolerate each other for Maud, though.

Since my Duchess Skystar was uploaded here, I decided to get on with uploading the rest of the Friendship Is Magic: The Next Generation cast.
