A lot of this stretch of comics is inspired by my own experiences on the DM side of the table. There's really no substitute for learning by doing, and persevering even when you feel like an idiot.

DM: In my defense, I did a fair bit of improvising this session. Zecora’s traps were a direct response to Rainbow Dash. I didn’t expect Twilight to take some Poison Joke or knock over the cauldron either.
Rarity: Be that as it may, there were two clear instances of direct intervention on your part. You should know – you used Apple Bloom for both of them. One to get us cursed overnight, and one to get cured by Zecora. You planned for both of those things, but we weren’t quite going for them. Are you following, dear?
DM: I suppose you have a point.
Applejack: That ain’t even the biggest elephant in the room.
