Personality/Background:

The son of Sunburst and Flash Sentry, Apollo is a unicorn skilled in defense and shielding magic. Ponies tend to think of him as strong and stoic — mostly because he tends to struggle with social interaction and eventually decided to just try not talking very much. Apollo sets very high expectations for himself and does his best to meet them — like his father Sunburst, he has a lot of anxiety and sometimes just needs space to breathe. He plans to become captain of the Royal Guard someday.
Apollo's specialty is shielding magic — his most powerful spell is a layered bubble shield that protects the user (and anypony else in its field) from multiple attacks. Because his talent and aspirations aligned much more closely with Flash Sentry than Sunburst, Apollo often struggles to connect with his father. Sunburst initially tried to prevent Apollo from joining the guard out of fear of him putting himself in danger, and their argument over that drove a fairly sizable wedge between them. Sunburst wants to be close to his son but isn't really sure how. Apollo struggled a lot academically — he had a lot of trouble retaining concepts and information that really didn't interest him. When it comes to the history of the royal guard or different battle maneuvers, though, he can recite facts and figures by memory.
