Sunset Shimmer…. Is not the most observant person in Canterlot High, nor Equinn Valley as a whole. Especially when it comes to romantic attraction, she often tries to steer away from it. In her mind, how was someone supposed to understand her whole background? Nearly taking over an entire school? trying to rule an entire alternate dimension of talking magical horses? her power crazed moments in senior year??? It was something she wished for everyone to forget yet couldn't forget it herself.

That being said, when a certain scientist in training begins to take a liking for the seemingly confident Sunset, Sunset is none the wiser. She simply tries to keep her own feelings under wraps.

You see, Sunset had been getting a serge of her own feelings for the most intelligent girl in school, but with her repeated flashes of self-doubt, along with the fear of this Twilight simply being a surrogate for her feelings for Pony Twilight, all she wanted was for the feelings o blow over. Though, this proved very ineffective with every word she said. Every excited gesture she made when she talked about the amazing subject that was physics. And most definitely each and every time the girl's nose seemed to scrunch whenever she was embarrassed of frustrated.

This would lead sunset to avoid one on one contact with Twilight. Of course she wouldn't be rude about it (as much as you can be), but then again, she wasn't used to these types of feelings, let alone with someone she knew two versions of! How was she supposed to know if she had feelings for her mentor or her friend? It made her feel guilty. If she did end up in a relationship with Twilight, what if she figured out it wasn't her she liked? what if she was falling for her mentor. All in all… she was just confused and her anxiety doubled whenever she saw Twilight.

Though, everything seemed to come to a head when the two became temporary tent-mates when their group went on a school wide camping trip. The close proximity to each other in the tent seemed to keep them both on edge. With Twilight acting a bit strange, Sunset tried her best to make her friend feel better. Though, this was a bit conflicting on both of their parts, tensions a bit high with both internal conflicts and Equestrian magic on the loose, this proved a task Sunset and Twilight needed to overcome.

Though, as the night ended,with all their friends trapped in a mangle of vines and magic at their limits, it would come out that Twilight has been having the same internal issues as Sunset. What if she were to turn back to that… Demon again? What if she hurt her friends as she once did? What if she hurt Sunset?… She felt alone, something she always seemed to struggle with. Even now, even when she had friends, it seemed like the friend she cared for the most was avoiding her…

With Sunset seeing just how the other was feeling, she couldn't help but see herself in that same situation. Celestia! she was still going through those feelings now! how could she have thought to constantly issolate the one person in this new world that understood exactly what she was going through. She understood what it was like to have those feelings fester so freshly in the mind. She understood that even if she had her friends, it would have done wonders for someone with like experiences to help cope with her actions! She no longer could let her friend feel so lonely, even if it had made her cautious on behalf of her own feelings.

So after they had escaped the Everfree disaster, The two would reconcile in their tent for the remainder of the time their. Sunset and Twilight would begin to heal as a result. Sunset explaining how she had felt about her experiences with dark magic and that it was OK to have these feelings, that she was actually still struggling with these thoughts, nightmares that would haunt her some nights.

And one night, when the two fell asleep and would find those same nightmares take over their thoughts, they would find comfort in sleeping close to one another. Feeling the comfort they had needed all this time.

I had to finish up these sketches. There was no helping that fact at all. I love these two. so. much.

Ever since Sci-Twi had the same internal issues as Sunset, all I could see were them bonding over their fears. (it s ounds a lot worse than it seems) and once they realize that they're no longer alone, they'd just… end up bumping into a relationship. After all, the two goofs are oblivious enough already, do you think they would realize the subject of their attraction would like them back????? absolutely not.

I could go on about my issues with EqG and their issues with homosexual attraction, giving Twilight/Sunset/Rarity/Applejack love interests that just so happen to be boys every movie/short to steer away from the homos, but whhhyyyyyy would I be bitter about thaaaaaat?????

I will have my little horse lesbians/bi relationships damn it.

Anyway! I have a bit of a fun project coming up with some old next-gens I've had and ironically there's a link to these two in my old ships! who would of thought.
