When Luna laid the egg which held Moonstone, she knew immediately that she could not keep him. Fluttershy was a frequent visitor to the castle for events and checking on Philomena (Celestia`s phoenix). Luna would not be able to disguise who his father was and it she could not stand to mother the child of the beast which wed Fluttershy. So, she thought of another who might be able to care for Moonstone. She turned to Cadence, the ruler of the Crystal Empire to take the child. It was far from Fluttershy and Cadence`s natural loving nature was Luna`s only hope. So Luna made the journy to the Crystal Empire. Cadence was glad to have Luna as a visitor but was caught completely off guard when Luna began to beg Cadence to take the egg. Cadence hesitated at first, but after listening to Luna`s explanation, Candence gently place a hoof on Luna`s shoulder and told her she would do it. Of course Cadence wanted more children. She and Shining Armor had been talking about it since Flurryheart was older now and she seemed lonely playing alone in the castle halls. No doubt there was still hesitation for Cadence. Afterall, an alicorn foal had been difficult to manage, but a draconequss and alicorn hybrid? Cadence couldnt begin to imagine those power fluxuations. But once Moonstone hatched, all fears seemed to escape Cadence. She was absolutely taken by this small puff ball of navy fur. It brought Cadence to tears to greet her new son into the world and loved him all the same.

When Flurryheart met Moonstone, she didnt even question why her new baby brother looked so different. She was just excited to not be the only child! And it was even better news when Cadence announced that she was pregnant! Flurryheart was ready to be the best big sister ever!

It wasnt uncommon to see Moonstone trotting about the halls of the castle. He was an incredibly friendly prince and would make hours of conversations with the guards who happily entertained the prince. Of course, it wasnt so easy being different. Moonstone was aware at a very young age that he wasnt like his parents or siblings and was often concerned that ponies didnt like him. Afterall, it wasnt hard to tell with his strange appearance. Though, he was never treated poorly. All of the guards and ponies living in the castle were made aware of Moonstone`s true appearance. Even though he could be himself inside the castle, his parents still required he wear his amulet while inside. This way, he could practice using the stone to transform into his unicorn disguise.

When Moonstone got older, it wasnt uncommon to see him out on the streets of the Crystal Empire, usually singing aloud as he traveled down the streets. He was gifted with a beautiful singing voice and loved singing. He hopes that one day he can visit Manehatten and sing on stage but his parents hardly let him stray far from the castle.
