This time with a shiny ECS system allowing (in theory) for much, much higher performances.
It was kinda hard to get it to work at all, but this new engine seems really promising.
Rendering also got upgraded to HDRP while I was at it : it should be a bit prettier, not that it matter much with low-poly and/or cartoon style.
So here is the first prototype : 1000 (literally) Anonfillies under the player's control.
Download (61.3Mo) here.
Controls :
* Mouse cursor : tell everyone which direction to go
* UpArrow/DownArrow : move everyone forward/backward
* Right Shift : make everyone gallop
* Alt+F4 : Quit
Know issues :
* Horses disappear somewhere in the middle-top of the screen : LOD is bugged in Unity 2020.1
* It's not fun and there is no content : it's a tech demo
* It crash / run badly : please post your computer specs, I'm genuinely worried if all this new stuff will be compatible with most people's computer.
Project will continue soon, probably with a Patreon and smaller but more predictable updates (probably a new build every 2 weeks or something).
Right now I'm tempted to split it into two games sharing the exact same code base : the main platforming/RPG one, and a small side one where you keep the "gameplay" in this prototype — leading from above a herd of animals trough highways or volcanoes and trying to not have most of them die stupidly … sorta like a mix of Lemmings and Clustertruck.
