Mulberry looks for something to use as a light source. For now it's day so light is filtering through the cracks of the smokehouse. Even from here she can tell the hole is unlit, so if she goes down she'll need a candle or a torch.

She looks down at the fires set below the racks, and thinks maybe she could fashion a makeshift torch out of it. It would probably burn up quick, but hopefully she wouldn't need the light for long.

She approaches the barrels set all around the hole and decides to examine them. The first thing she notices a strong smell of the sea. They are empty, but she can see them glisten a bit from a little bit of water on the inside.

She supposes there were probably fish in these barrels, which isn't exactly unusual for a smokehouse. However, what is odd is that these have been clearly used recently and yet there aren't any fish hanging on the smoking racks.
