She ghoes back down the ladder and over to the quivering monster. Mulberry gingerly puts a hoof onto it pressing down to see if it reacts at all. It's flesh is like a firm, wet sponge. She finds it easy to climb up on top of it, though rather revolting to do so.
Mulberry carefully climbs the creature in a sort of squatting trot. She's afraid to go at a brisk pace because it's still expanding and contracting slightly, she assumes from breathing.
Mulberry takes a wide breadth around the mouths, and does her best to not touch the eyes. The eyes don't seem particularly dangerous, but they look like they would be gross to touch, and their stare that follows her as she travels is very unnerving. The giant unicorn horns are quite useful however as they make a nice stable place to rest.
As she gets near the top she passes by one of the wings, and though they were barely moving at all while she climbed, the mare is buffeted as they wildly swing out. Luckily she wasn't near any of the mouths while this happened, and she makes sure to note their strength for her climb back down.
She gets to the top of the creature and looks down at the runes. She sees three "Bigs", a "Gift", a "Need", and a "Power". She walks into the circle and grabs the staff.
It slides out easily, but it gives a wet sort of plop as it comes out of the creature, and blood squirts out from the wound. The whole creature shudders, but other than that doesn't move.
Mulberry looks at the staff. She didn't realize it from below, but the staff hasn't been carved to resemble a horn, it's a horn that has been carved to resemble a staff. The tip glows a faint purple at her touch, though she has no idea what that could mean.
