The staircases spiral slightly as the ascend, causing Mulberry to face the passageway once she gets to the second floor. The stairs and connected by a very similar hallway to the one below, There is a threadbare carpet, where going one way leads to a window facing the back of the castle. It seems to be a wilted, barely surviving garden as well as a few shacks and an incredibly mossy fountain.
If she continues down the hallway she finds two doors on both the west and east sides of the area. The floor here is made of wood unlike the stone below, and Mulberry can feel it creak below her as she walks. She hopes it doesn't give way.
On the south part of the building there is a larger staircase continuing up to a third floor, with two large, ornate doors sitting on either side of it. There are plaques on these doors, and they say that they lead to a male and female dormitory.
