Marine Biologist Wave Rider finds a sick shark pony washed up on the beach. He brings him back to his lab and puts him in a big tank to heal him and monitor his progress.

This is when Desolate Mako finally wakes up and they see each other and Wave Rider tries not to crap himself because he is terrified of sharks but couldn't just let Mako die and Mako tries to understand what the heck is happening and who this strange pony is and is a confused, restless boi who thrashes around and gets a lecture from Rider because he needs rest >I

Later Mako escapes and they don't see each other for quite awhile. Well, Wave Rider doesn't see Mako. He lurks around when the other pony surfs to curiously observe and fend off real sharks who may wanna bite the blue boi.

It'll be a long time before they can become friends.
