Vinyl and Octavia decided to have kids after a long time of being together. Octavia was ready and she though that so was Vinyl. Vinyl honestly thought so too but when they had Rhapsody Vinyl realized how not ready she was. Vinyl was out of the house most of the time, she never really helped Octavia with Rhapsody and they argued all the time. When Octavia couldn't take care of Rhapsody and he was left with just Vinyl he ended up being neglegted a lot. Octavia grew cold towards him and Vinyl while Vinyl avoided the whole situation. Octavia wanted to make sure he didn't end up like Vinyl so she forced her ideals on him. Octavia forced him into playing the cello for most of his adolescence and he did like it until it became all Octavia cared about. He couldn't even spend time with his friends because school and cello were more important. In his teenage years he started to slowly rebel against his parents, or mainly Octavia, doing little things like skipping cello lessons and sneaking out here and there until he wasn't doing a single thing like his mother wanted him to. That's pretty much why he is the way he is today.
