Description:

The Awful Cosmic Truth.

Fragments from Grims diary:

I came to on the dry mansion grass. Sweating, panting and shaking. My head recoiling from the nightmare that lay just beneath us. just beyond the edge of that precipice that i feared I had so nearly crossed has not a pair of extended appendages pulled us back to this little island of sanity.

Mivera was standing before us. Her body reformed apart from said appendages. I knew we had her to thank for saving us from insanity. And thank her I did, as I catch my breath.

After I had collected myself, I had to ask the question. just what was it , that lay there, beyond the precipice?

Núgúth. She Explained. In a voice far to calm for such things. The spell that plucked us from our world had brought us to nothing les then the verry dorstepp of a great old one. The Eldritch god of gluttony.

No doubt sensing the confusion on my face. Mivera sat down to explain. And as her body reformed, she told us about how her family had, in their ever more desperate search for a cure to their condition, Started looking towards the stars. Towards the very source of their predicament.

Knowing that the digestive tracts of those who serve Núgúth are linked to the great old one, her ancestors had formed the idea that maybe they could track the pull of the eldritch hunger back to its source.

Using rituals to hideous and complex for description, they did just that. Binding their entire island to be hurled across time and space. At the exact date that the stars aligned.

That the spell, however requires more than a few stars to follow, Mivera left no secret. And though she would not go into the details, It should be noted that around this time, a lot of crazed relatives were released from sanatoriums, under the guidance that the family would care for their future needs. Their family had a lot of sway amongst the gifted and the learned academics and few were to question the founders of so many esoteric practises about their claims that a homeward bound stay might help the poor ponies mental recovery.

In truth however, the journey across the stars could only be done by following the strongest of pulls. And the strongest of them all would be found in those half starved lunaticks, whos minds had long since forgotten all but the hunger.

The journey, however, was a success, and would have been a marvel worthy the greatest of academic recognition in both theoretical magic as well as quantum space time theories, was it not for the hideousness of their methods, the awefullness of their reasons, and the vulgarity of their destination.

No, such things are better kept a secret.

Their Destination however, contrary to all earthly believes that a cure for ones ailments are found in its source, would yield no relief. For an eldritch curse is not like that of the bite of a rattlesnake, whose poison can be cured by the extraction and creation of an anti venom from the snakes own poisonous glands.

The cosmic entities are beyond such simple notions. They are not something that can be studied or observed, at least not in any meaningful way. Nor can they be reasoned with or bargained with. No pleas or cries for mercy could be heard by an entity to which you are less then a molecule would be in your own body.

This and more, her ansectors learned And paid the price for. including the notion not to look over the edge for too long, less they, like the first of the discoverers flung themselves over the edge after staring into the abysmal abyss for too long.

Another curious observer lost their mind, but was captured reined in for questioning. Though only pieces and fractures could be extracted from the ravings of the madmare, about what se realy saw, the family learned what they had found. And that they would find no solice here.

Sadly – The source of our troubles would hold no awnser to our plight. Only madness and hunger.

Still – From this discovery they concocted a plan of last resorts. Rather then waiting to be devoured from within. To waste away in some insane asylum until their bodies implode on themselves, the family took their fate into their own hooves.

And so it became that every one that would succumb to the growing hunger would be flung into the abyss, where they could be forever feeding upon the repulsive form of our creator.

Not one member of her line lay buried in Equestrian soil. It would have been an empty casket and a false parade. There are no graves or mausoleums that hold those that have carried the legacy of their House. They all lay here. every last one, since her great, great, grandfathers time. He too, was down there somewhere. Forever gnawing upon the one that had flung this curse upon their line.

"For if this place would not be our salvation. Then it would at least be our final revenge!"

I have never seen Mivera angry before. But as she spoke those final words she trembled with such seething rage and vile disgust. Emotions born of so much pain and loss, of the fate that so manny of her kin had suffered. And the though of the future she was almost destined for.
