This OC—Lacuna—was originally conceptualized as a mascot for the NexGen MLP anthro system for SFM and Blender. For the most part, she was well-liked by the people who saw her—even some of the NexGen and some who had no connection with SFM or Blender at all! Unfortunately, the plans to officially adopt her as a mascot failed to push through. So I repurposed Lacuna as a more general OC of sorts. She's not my ponysona but OC-wise, but she will probably get the most exposure in my MLP anthro art, especially art that's focused on YCHs or clothing porting.
Because Lacuna was originally designed to be a mascot, a lot of her characterization was tailored to fit NexGen and its community. This not only includes her physical appearance—based on the NexGen logo and texture template defaults—but also the various aspects of her personality and even the choice of her species. Granted there's a bit of projection going on here. (There totally isn't a connection between me being in medical school and Lacuna being a plastic surgeon. :p ) But yeah, I'm planning to reveal those sides of Lacuna steadily as I make more posters of her. Even though I'm no longer pursuing to make Lacuna a mascot for NexGen, much of her base characterization remains the same.
Lacuna also has four different appearances: female pony, male pony, unreformed changeling, and reformed changeling. I don't know how fast I can create models and posters for those different forms (yes, I learned how to make pony models; have to update my commission status for those), but I'll upload them as soon as I can!
And no, this doesn't mean I've given up on Daring Did and Spectrum of Lightning. Like I said, I'm still working to get that fanfic in Equestria Daily. And I've already made the next two chapters! Just have to edit them.
Before I forget, I'd like to credit Tillie-TMB and Lumino010 for drawing the various references I used to create Lacuna's model. Lumino's reference sheet is up right now here. I'll have to upload the other reference art to DA sometime…
