About: Guiding Light lived about 100-200 years before the main events of FiM, known as a philosopher, magical theorist, and author who is notable for her natural history of the phoenix, the first modern articulation of the Elements of Harmony (i.e. transition from the Pillar’s Elements to the Mane Six’s elements), and various influential works of Equestrian literature. Her works of fiction have been variously regarded over the centuries as both highly cerebral and passionate, but also naive and somewhat sentimental. While not a magician on the level of Starswirl the Bearded, she developed a few important theories of magic that are still referenced today.
