With little draconequui, sometimes those powers of theirs required "on the job training." Hovering, like flying is to pegasi foals, is instinctual to draconequui and comes naturally to them. Most pony/draconequus hybrids of the old times inherited similar skills. When Athena was an infant, her powers materialized over time, and they covered a large spectrum as far as their strength. While not as strong as her mischievous father's magic, Annie was creating chocolate cotton candy clouds before she could speak.

However, coming home to see her daughter tossed ten feet in the air certainly caught Fluttershy off-guard. While her husband seemed rather amused (and said daughter is having the time of her life), the new mother is certainly not…until she has two turquoise eyes looking into her own, a delighted Athena twirling and dancing in the air before her. Discovering all of Annie's abilities as she grew was certainly an adventure (finding her sleeping chick curled up against the ceiling was an interesting one). However, despite her unique quirks and capabilities, Fluttershy couldn't love her daughter more, and is excited to see what her daughter accomplishes next.
