13th Mar 2021, 6:00 AM in A Canterlot Wedding, Part 2
Fluff and slice-of-life and generally lowering the stakes gets a bad rap when people are coming to the table hoping for epic stories, but they serve an important purpose. Besides just pacing (which is important), there are so many little victories to be had between the big hard struggles, it can help bolster morale and rejuvenate spirits for the next leg of the journey.
Note: Guest comic submissions are now open! Guidelines here. Current deadline: 4/1/21.
Transcript:
DM: As rehearsed, the newlyweds step out onto the balcony. Confetti and streamers rain from the tops of every building around the square full of ponies. It feels like the whole city is here cheering.
Princess Cadance: Heh, I had kind of forgotten that this was technically a royal wedding.
Shining Armor: I guess we're obliged to do that "smile and wave" thing, huh?
Princess Cadance: We're still aiming for a small wedding in real life, right?
Shining Armor: Oh yeah, totally. I'd be dying up there if it weren't imaginary.
Rainbow Dash: Aww. It's so… sappy. But I like them, so whatever I guess.
Fluttershy: You know, I think I kind of get it now. Why Celestia wanted this wedding to happen despite everything with Discord.
Applejack: We all needed a win. A reason to cheer.
Rarity: And goodness knows it was hard-fought.
Pinkie Pie: I've been tellin' you all this whole time! Parties and celebrations are powerful things!
Twilight Sparkle: I'm just glad we were able to help in the end. Feels good.
DM: Happy to hear we stuck the landing this time.
