Ocean is a big contrast to their older sister Harmony. When as Harmony being an Alicorn as quit suspected to happen, Ocean being an Alicorn was a complete shock to his family. He was taken under the wing of Twilight to learn magic together with Harmony. However, as they got older, Ocean began to distance themselves from their family, especially Twilight. They hated being compared to their “perfect” Alicorn sister. They never liked her teaching- it was nothing personal at first, really, they just… never felt like they were made for royalty. As years passed their situation worsened, to the point where he would argue with his mothers daily. They didn’t agree to their suggestions and pushed away their mothers’ tries to reason with them. Why SHOULD they listen to Twilight and the others? Four of them are not even technically their biological mothers. That statement really affected Ocean’s parents. But, Twilight insisted not to quit her magics teaching. Not completely, at least. She says it’s good for Ocean’s well-being…
Ocean’s actual talent doesn’t really have to with enchantments and spells and powerful magic like the other Alicorns’. They much prefer to spend their time near the water and search for shiny things on the beach or in the water. Their magic works sort of like Rarity’s gem finding, but more for deep-sea pearls and the like than gemstones in caves. Ocean would spend all day in the beautiful underwater if they were ket too. And of they found a water-breathing spell that would last that long.
