⚠️Long description warning!⚠️
1.) Pure Blood Unicorn (Basically Extinct) ——————————————————————————————————————————— * They are typically tall and thin compared to the normal pony height (15hh to 16hh/ 5ft-5'3ft; the same size as a Painted Horse). Their delicate and sometimes frail bodies come from the fact that they rely on their magic and not actual body strength or abilities. What they really rely on most is mental strength and abilities, like knowledge gain, spell casting, spell making, etc… That's why unicorns are seen and or symbolized in Equestrian culture as smart and sophisticated creatures (Common Unicorns too). They're also seen as pure, mystical, and beautiful.
* Regardless of knowledge or not, they naturally have a strong magic level. Because of this, Like Celestia or Luna's hair, Pure Unicorns' hair also flows lively like theirs.
* Pure Unicorn coats and manes are very minimalistic in color simply because their species lack pigment. So, they're mainly all white or white and another prominent color (usually pink, blue, and or purple. Unearthly colors). Now, some Pure Unicorns specifically had rainbow hair. Those types of unicorns used to hold a special power that can give you good luck, fortune, and grant wishes (an idea from Lopoddity). They were nicknamed Luckycorns or Miracle Unicorns. However, those types of Pure Unicorns died out quickly in the unicorn family due to magic overexertion, and them being a rarity to begin with.
* Pure unicorns have long beards, curved horns and tails. They are seen as attractive devices for mates. Including how kept and clean they are. Their fur is very silky and shiny, and most mates prefer for it to stay that way. That's why unicorns are notorious for being clean. Because of this, Pure Unicorns experience aesthetic attraction towards their partners, meaning that they're more than likely asexual/aromatic as a species…. However, that's not to say that unicorns (especially males) can't be hypersexual, and trying to look all flashy and stuff to attract a mate. They can be very romantic and elegant when they're like this, also trying to when others mate with pricey gifts and goodies. Pure Unicorns are very bougie, so they better pray that they can win their mate over.
* A little more on their horns, their horns are made and used like another horn in nature. Yes they're used for attracting mates (especially for males, the longer the horn is, the more mates they'll attract), used for comforting (a partner, friends or family members) by touching and or rubbing horns, and for defense (to one up a male/female and or just defending themselves or others). Their horns are strong and more sturdier than other horns in nature. They don't fall off like antlers, they just grow like normal horns (like say on a goat). Their magic not only comes from their mental strength or spell casting, it comes from their whole bodies magical essence, and the nutrients they consume. (More about this down here ⬇️)
* Pure Unicorns have the longest pony lifespan at 400+ years of life. These unicorns absorb the magical essences in the magical plants, biomes, or magic they would consume (to also keep their beauty and youthful looks too. That's why unicorns, such as Mist Mane, were draining the magical essences from her hometown to keep her looking beautiful). However, Unicorns don't usually have many kids though (maybe because of the fact that they a.) Simply don't have time for them, and or b.) They may outlive them). They would commonly have up to 3 or less foals. This is another factor of how Pure Unicorns slowly became extinct. More of their diet consists of fruits and vegetables. (Like every other horse, lol, XP).
* These unicorns usually have names associated with magic, beauty, fortune, gemstones, time, and space, to make them seem more mystical and regal. Personality wise, they are commonly arrogant, posh, dismissive, judgmental, intelligent and demanding. Because of this intimidating behavior, other pony species/tribes know not to mess with them. So unicorns are seen as loners too.
* The fully white pure unicorn in the drawing is Celestia's mother, Silver Belle. Starswirl the Bearded is also a Pure Unicorn. He's the only one alive. ——————————————————————————————————————————— 2.) The Common Unicorn ———————————————————————————————————————————
* They basically have most of the same traits as a Pure Blood Unicorn, but altered quite a bit. Though still thin, delicate and frail as the Pures, they're still shorter (13.2hh to 15hh, 4'4ft-5ft; the height of a Haflinger). Honestly, they're just a smaller version of a Pure Unicorn, shorter still curved horns, beards, and tails. However, they kept the same personality and traits as one, you know, smart, haughty, extraordinary, and loners. However, they're not shown the same light or respect as their ancestors. Since they're not as grand or mystical looking like the Pures, they're typically mislooked over, though still respected in a sense (as they did help raise and lower the sun and moon, and directed them through the stars.) It's just that, common unicorns are just so common, y'know.
* Their coats and manes are still beautiful and sparkly, however, they don't flow though. And as you can notice, Common Unicorns have more diverse pigmentation than Pure Unicorns, but still keeping the same unearthly colors like, blue, pink, or purple.
* Their coats are still silkier than ever, though for Common Unicorns, it's not their biggest mate attraction anymore. Commons are more asexual/aromatic than ever, sometimes demisexaul. They experience attraction when their partner has an emotional bond with them, platonic attraction, when they want to be friends with their partner (because they share the same interests) and aesthetic attraction (like Pure Unicorns), having interests in their partner's looks.
* Because everything on a Common Unicorn is a reduction compared to the Pures, their lifespan is too. Commons live to 200-. That's still a lot of years, but not as much as 400! Common Unicorns don't consume many magical plants/herbs, live in magical biomes (because those biomes are also partially extinct), and or gain magic compared to the Pures. So they just stick with fruits and vegetables. They don't want to overdose on how much magical essences are being obtained within them, or they'll probably spontaneously combust, (no, actually just spasm out and die 🥺). Their little bodies can only take so much! So instead, they rely on learning more clever and not so overwhelming spells, spell making, witchery and real magic (magic that is used outside of unicorn magic, but not as extreme as witchery. More like the magic Trixie performs… illusions and sleight of hooves!).
* Their horns are more fragile and glass-like (though it's NOT glass, gladly). Their horns would take on the color of their eyes or magic. The horn's toughness is that of a diamond but its durability is like quartzite. Also, their horns aren't used for defense anymore, since they're not long or strong enough. So that means, Common Unicorns rely on their horns magic a lot more now (defense wise…. I mean, Pures did two, but they didn't have to use much magic).
* Their foal count is still the same, 3 or less.
* They still hold stellar and beautiful names, (tham same goes for Half-Bred Unicorns most times).
* Young Twilight Sparkle is our little Common Unicorn example. ÚwÙ ——————————————————————————————————————————— 3.) Half-Breed Unicorns ———————————————————————————————————————————
* These unicorns are basically Pure or Common Unicorns who've been cross bred with one or more races twice or more in their close family lineage. In my headcanon, Rarity here has a fairly close relative who has full Earth pony blood (her grandfather on her mothers side). But also, on her father's side, he's mixed with a Common Unicorn and an Earth pony too. So this led to Rarity being shorter, bulkier (but she's just thick), with a shorter horn, tail, and a deformity in her hooves making them cloven. Now other Half-breeds can have horns with no sections (Cadence and Flurry Heart got this going on).
* These unicorns can take different shapes and sizes depending on their other mixed race. Typically, if naturally, tall, strong and built, they're more than likely mixed with an Earth pony. But if they are very short, stubby, and fluffy, they're mixed with a pegasus. (Note:Yes, in my Headcanon, earth ponies are mostly seen as big, while pegasus are seen as small).
* Their horns are made of the same minerals as a Common Unicorn, but of course, shorter in length. Now their horns aren't definitely used for anything! Other than levitation spells, they can't hardly do any other spell. And sometimes not even levitation, look at Sweetie Belle bro! (Jk, I know she's a child XP). And if they want to have efficient magic, then they'll have to practice a lot.
* They are more prone to having hybrid kids (alicorns), or kids that don't share the same gene (like say, if Rarity were to date another unicorn, she should have an earth pony as a child, because it's another that's close in her lineage)…. but in my next-gen, Rarity accidently had two unindigenous kirin babies, with a certain dragon (…Spike). The Half-Breed foal count will vary.
* Their lifespan will also vary too, however, I'll say that they live to about 150-. Their common sexuality varies as well. However, they can still come off as either very romantic or dismissive still. And like I said before, most times they are still named after mystical things.
* Of course Rarity is showing off our Half-Breed Unicorn example ÙwÚ. Another example for this species is Trixie (she has pegasus blood in her genes👀). ——————————————————————————————————————————— 4.) Indigenous Kirin ———————————————————————————————————————————
* Kirin are of course and pony (or a horse) mixed with a dragon. They are stubby and bulky, bigger than we think they are (in my Headcanon). They are usually the size of an Arabian horse (14hh to 15hh; 4'6ft-5ft) which is averagely a little bit taller than the Common Unicorn. They are creatures not to mess with. As fluffy and cute as they may look, they'll probably burn you into a crisp before you could even blink, especially once you get onto their bad side. Their body heat already radiates heat at 110° F! So yeah, they'll more than likely die or become very ill in colder biomes, ranging from 10-30° F. Cool for them is 70° y'all, without wind… and just the humidity.
* If they were humans, they would be Chinese orientated, and have chinese inspired names (and also names associated with nature, fire, and time). I would honestly think that most of the unicorns are all some form of asian in some way (especially Kirin Decent Unicorns… who I'll talk about in a second). I also based their design off of the long dragon, (like the fluffy beards, hair and eyebrows, lol XP). So, to really distinguish the males between the females, the males would have the long stringy mustaches that long dragons commonly have (idk XD). But other than that, both genders will look identical.
* They aren't sexaully active creatures either. They prefer a more platonic relationship and snuggles (though it'll burn). Though Autumn Blaze, a literal trailblazer got her people out of silence, most of them are still used to it and still prefer to say nothing (don't worry, they are happy though). So you'll see them still speak through body language, or be very soft spoken. But yeah, they are also still acting like this because it does suck that when they get mad for a split second, they'll turn into a Nirik.
* And another straight inspiration from Lopoddity, their horns are like deer antlers (though in my design, they resemble tree bark). They fall off and are used for rare witch positions/brews/and spells. But unlike deer tho, both kirin genders have big and long antlers. Their magic is fire….quite literally. Some kirin can be bicorns (have two horns/antlers…. I'll talk about them too). They also do present themselves, as a doe (if a female), or a buck (if a male). The babies too would be called a fawn.
* Their hair is always hot, flowy, and luminescent like fire (but not as hot as fire though…). Their eyes are ever so sharp and piercing, they glow too. Their teeth, pointy for tough fruits and vegetables in their area (like bamboo) and smaller animals, like rodents, reptiles, amphibians, arthropods or birds.
* They can live up to 300+ years (yes, they're old fellows too). They get it from their dragon ancestors, inheriting their ancient lifespan.
* They don't bare many kin either. If so, they'll have 2 or less fawns. They lay eggs btw.
* Yes, Autumn Blaze is our dear Kirin example👌. And hybrids, like Rarity's kids, Jade and Ignatius are considered kirin (by pony standards), but not indigenous though. Besides, Rarity's kids are the first ever seen hybrid kirin in modern Equestria. ——————————————————————————————————————————— 5.) Kirin Decent Unicorns/Eastern Unicorns ———————————————————————————————————————————
* These are the unicorns of Eastern Equestria. They are descendants of Kirin, but they aren't them 100% (obviously). They are basically a Half-Breed of Pure or Common Unicorns mixed with Kirin. They're all Asian inspired, especially Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Indian. Now, their height will vary, but most commonly, they're the same height as the Common Unicorn, which was 13.2hh-15hh, 4'4ft-5ft. However, they keep a bulkier structure from their ancestors. They can have feisty and or energetic attitudes like the Kirin. These Eastern Unicorns have different cultures and traditions, and they stick very closely to them.
* The mixed characteristics they share from the Kirin are: Fire related magic, fire-like, and luminescent hair, striking and glowing eyes, a thicker build, and sharp teeth. Now from the unicorns are: A (smaller) beard, closed hooves, a glass-like curved horn, and the bougie personality…
* Their names are too related to fire like Kirin, but also other natural, stellar and beautiful names, like the unicorns. Their names are also related or inspired by their cultures too.
* They are also non-sexaul creatures, and keep to themselves most times. Since Eastern Unicorns mainly go off of their tradition, that means most times they marry whoever their family puts them with. Or, they just don't have and sexaul relations at all. That's not to say that most of these unicorns aren't rebelling and trying to search for sexaul independence, it's just that most times they are not determined to stray from their norm. Soo… their foal count is low as well. They'll have 2 or less kids, and don't lay eggs.
* Again, their lifespan varies too, but I'll say they'll live to be on average 250- yrs. Though they have the sharp teeth from their kirin ancestors, they aren't used for much. Only for fleshy plants and fruits.
* Sunset Shimmer is our Eastern Unicorn example for the day. Other unicorns like this in my HC are, Mist Mane, Sunburst, and Celestia's dad surprisingly (who you'll see later), Perseus Star. ——————————————————————————————————————————— 6.) Bicorns (Extinct?🤔) ———————————————————————————————————————————
* Though it's clear that all unicorns share similar genes with goats (like the horn, the beard, sometimes cloven hooves and fluffiness) , bicorns are more closely related to them… just because this time they have TWO horns (okay not really, sorry XP). They are basically a goat (or very rarely, even sheep) mixed with a unicorn. Some have very powerful magical abilities, while most don't, though they still hold some form of magical energy within them. The ones that have scarcely any magic rely on magical artifacts and spells to either temporarily gain magic within themselves, or to have on their person (like some form or jewelry, clothes, or creature). They range from different shapes and sizes, especially depending on the goat or sheep breed.
* Since they were such a rare magical species, most, if not all other creatures don't know much of their whereabouts. Because most unicorns and other ponies have stopped mating with sentient goats and sheep for centuries (due to unattractive appearance). Researchers suspect that the rest more than likely died off due to predators (sentient or not) killing them off, as they're the most vulnerable animal (right there next to pigs, cows and chickens). But some could still be alive, hidden somewhere in the shadows.
* They would more than likely live somewhere in caves, forest, or where the native zebras live. They would never be seen in many bustling pony civilizations, like villages, towns, or cities. But that's if they are still around. They might just be. So they must be multiplying in secret by numbers. 1 is the kid/lamb count perhaps.
* Their diet would consist of grass ( anything they can chew on) and magical herbs/plants. They can gain little amounts of magic when consuming magical herbs and plants.
* Anyways, their horns are usually thin and pointy, like that of a normal unicorn horn. But most times (especially in males) their horns can grow big (like any other billy or ram horns). They can be made in many different ways, but mainly in the positions of the ones in the drawing.
* Surprisingly, they can live a pretty long life (if they don't die) depending on their magic level. Grogar lived to be 500+ before he was defeated by Gusty the Great (lol, Gusty and crew is just a cover up for Celestia and her past crew).
* Grogar was the only bicorn that was acknowledged by Equestria. He's the one that made everypony question if there was more just like him. He is the example for the bicorns, and is a bighorn ram. He will be back in my HC as he's related to a certain Draconequus. 👀👀👀
Bless your heart if you read all of this. I'm sorry, but thank you!💀🙏
