Description:

After a bit of an interruption our online pen and paper role playing group had its first meeting in a while yesterday. And since the player characters in our group met a few more of the NPCs of our current adventure I can post those NPCs here now withouth the risk of any spoiler.
Here is the Sheriff of Trottingham, Twihorn Shining. Similarities between the mane style and name of Twilight Sparkle and Twihorn Shining are somewhat deliberate. The straightly cut mane seems to fit to a strict proponent of the law. With the Robin Hood (Roobing Hooves) theme of our adventure one might presume for the Sheriff to be a villain, but the story of the game is not one of simple right or wrong. The Sheriff does what he does to maintain the peace between griffons and ponys and he bears a heavy burden of having to keep a distance from most of the ponies to be able to enact the laws some of which seem to work against the interests of the ponies while at the same time maintaining the peace.
H bears the heavy golden chain (on an island where in our game setting gold is deemed of little value because most of the gold of Equestria is mined there and exported to the mainland), the purple robe of his office and makes sure to have the outward appearance required of a representative in the name of the royal sisters but other than that he doesn't allow for himself to enjoy luxuries or benefits that the situation does not allow for the citizens of his town too.
At the same time he may well be aware that if he was always successful in preventing any breach of the law (which he honestly tries) it would probably destroy the place he loves and which he wished to call his home as much as any pony of Trottingham. In that sense there is a somewhat tragic streak to his character.
He is originally from Canterlot and was appointed to his office not long before the last war between ponies and griffons some 27 years before the events of our role playing game.
There is an alternative version of the above image with reduced opacity to let the parchment background shine through.
