Slow an' Steadfast wins the round, it seems. Now something tells me Gerwalta's the one ta watch THIS time, but don't underestimate Mister Crystal either. (Also, make mental note to get in a few stretches shortly before your own match.)
You roll a 7 (required 10). Partial success.
You begin to observe the fight, this time focusing on Gerwalta.
Despite what the griffon taught you, you don't recognize her stance, nor any of her techniques. Standing on her hind legs, she wields her spear with both talons to parry attacks with extreme precision and speed.
Every time Azurite Blade manages to land a hit, his greatsword bounces off the pole, causing him to stagger backwards in a shower of illusory sparks. For a while, it seems as though Gerwalta is humouring the swordsman, if only to give the crowd a good show.
After a few minutes, however, Gerwalta decides to strike back. In a blur, her opponent's heavy weapon is immediately sent sliding across the arena floor, leaving the pony's neck at the mercy of her spear. The crowd erupts in cheers at the skillful display.
Announcer: "Wowza, that's one mean griffon! Gerwalta the Gladiator wins the match!"
As the two challengers bow and exit the ring, you can't help but feel intimidated.
