FLASHBACK:

"Saccharine! SACCHARINE!"

The filly scurried over. "Yes, mommy?"

"WHERE is my pendant?"

"I dunno."

Aria glared at her daughter. "You're a terrible liar."

Saccharine teared up. "Well, um, I used it for a spell."

"A.. spell?"

She nodded. "But it's gone now. I'm sorry."

"Oh, you will be. I WISH I NEVER HAD YOU!"

BACK IN THE PRESENT:

"Alright, I do have a book of forbidden spells somewhere around here."

"Oh, good. You're not completely useless."

"I think I can do this one." She gestured to a page.

Frostbite squinted at the title: "Change of Fate? What's it do?"

"I think it changes the fate of a certain pony. For example, you could use it on one of your cousin's parents, and maybe they won't end up together." She stopped. Could she use it on herself?

"Well that sounds promising. Do it!"

Saccharine nodded. She knew it was wrong, but truly wanted to have a friend. Maybe Frost could be that, if she showed her she was good at magic. "It takes a week to set in place."

She groaned. "Fine. Just do it."
