Sidenote: I know I said earlier that AJ was going to have a home birth, but then I remembered this picture, which was drawn in a hospital.
Frost had slept in the apple patch. It was cold and damp, the worst place to have to spend the night, and certainly not a display of good parenting.
Good parenting, she scoffed at the thought, her mother was terrible. I mean, it wasn't her fault that a unicorn had been accepted into the family! And it wasn't her fault that she wasn't able to change it, at least, not for a week.
She got up and prepared to trek back to the Princess' library. While she brushed herself off, an odd feeling struck the back of her mind. What was it? It felt almost like… guilt. No, empathy. Towards who? As Frost approached the outskirts of the farm, it hit her. She felt empathy towards… Saccharine. That poor unicorn, she thought, she just wanted a friend.
Suddenly, her mother's voice rung in her head; Unicorns, Pegasi, Alicorns, Changelings, Kirin, Seaponies, ugh. You know what they all have in common?
What, muma?
They're vile. Think they're superior just because they have "magic". Well, we have a connection to Equus that nopony else can manage. We're the ones who deserve a spot on the pedestal.
Frost let this flow through her brain. But, she thought, this wasn't fair. It wasn't right. How could she have let her cruel mother ever teach her such things.
She needed to apologize to her Aunt. Upon heading over to the kitchen, where she expected to find her cousin and family chattering happily over a meal, she found a deserted room. Though, not completely deserted. There was still fresh food on the plates.
Frostbite ran out the door on her way to the hospital.
With one final push, it was over. Applejack was relieved that the pain was over, but more relieved to hear that her baby was healthy and breathing normally.
Her wife cried in joy, rocking the small foal back and forth softly.
"Let me hold the little apple crisp." The earth pony took hold of her new child. Through her tear-soaked eyes she could barely make out the small light blue figure. Nurse Paris entered the room.
"It's a girl!"
Pixie Core looked down at her new baby sister. She was so cute! Such a perfect little unicorn. Frost was sure to torment her. Frost… who hadn't even shown up to meet her new-
"Howdy." Pixie turned around, shocked to see her cousin standing in the open doorway, frowning sheepishly.
