Description:

Pom was fully aware of how much of a coward she was. It was actually pretty common for sheep to take so little agency in life. After training dogs for years while taking care of her family, she realized that she must make more important decisions for herself, which is why she joined the Chamber of Commons.

One day, Pom was summoned, as all the other members of the Chamber, for a meeting of great importance. The news was shocking for everyone present, the Predators have returned to Foenum. The Council of Ungulates insists that each land that holds the Prophet’s Keys must send their champion to become the key bearer and faced the darkness.

Prime Minister Quiff, whom was present at the meeting, asked the Council for more time, considering that asking for a champion from the Meadows would be difficult, since they considered themselves a passive society.

General Spindle, the largest ram in the room, rejected the idea of sending one of them as their champion. Instead, he vouched that they send their military abroad to quell the Predators.

After the sheep was victorious against their war with the longmas, the world no longer sees Huoshan as the great power that it once was. For the general, he sees it as a sign of change, that it’s their turn to become the new world military.

Everyone was appalled by his decision of sending their army abroad. Spindle reasoned to everyone at the Chamber of who would be the champion. Bearing such responsibility would present great hardship and a dangerous life, especially for a sheep. He knew none of them would take the task. The hall was silent.

Pom never liked the general. She knew how much of a warmonger the ram was. The reason he got such a high position in the Chamber is because of his merit during the Sheep-Longma War. While she herself doesn’t like the prospects of a difficult life, she hated how cowardly the sheep are, to be needing someone like Spindle to lead them would be a terrifying prospect.

She joined the Chamber of Commons so that she would make a change for the better, she promised to not be so afraid anymore. And so, she raised her hoof, and called to be the champion.

The crowd cheered for Pom, except for the general. The prime minister proclaimed her to be the bravest sheep he had ever seen.

Her mother and older brother, Woogums, worried so much about Pom, of how can she bear such burden all alone. Simply, she won’t be alone. Pom took some dogs, including Pup, for her duty. She then set off with the Prophet’s Key to Huoshan to meet with their champion.

She was still afraid, but she was also brave.
