Mortuus is one of the first alicorns from before there was existence, time and space. When life was seeded and worlds created by his fellow alicorns, he grew against their ideas. Seeing mortal life and existence as meaningless and wasteful in his eyes. Believing that there was greater balance and purpose when the universe was but silence.
In the mid age of civilisation. Mortuus conquered and laid waste to his first world and turned it into his domain. A place where he could conduct his war upon all of creation. And undo the work of his former alicorn brother and sister. In time, the place became known as Oblivion. The land where nothing is or ever was.
Then 3000 years before the defeat of Nightmare Moon, he struck Earth with the same intent. Annihilating many races of people who lived long before Ponykind. Among them were the elves. Who fought him with every creature of race along side them. But no army could prevail against his overwhelming strength and power. Not even the dragons could halt his advance.
Until finally, his siblings intervened.
The two other First Alicorns took Caledor, the last of the elves, and gave him a weapon capable of fighting Mortuus. And together they fought for the salvation of a world yet to be Equestria.
After a long and epic battle, Mortuus the Alicorn of the Black Sun and enemy of life. Was defeated and confined back into his domain of Oblivion. His power and strength too weakened to continue his onslaught.
But we all know this song and dance by now. Very soon, Mortuus will continue his champaign. And this time, his brethren will not be able to interfere.
