“Sorry about that. Just needed a little break after practice.” Cloudy sat down on a nearby folding chair, trying her best to keep any belly flab from poking out from under her top. “It’s not as easy when you doubled in size in the past year.”
“Or tripled,” Tennis added, taking out a hamburger for herself before passing her chubby friend some nuggets. “At least you’re still on the team. I’m kinda the unofficial benchwarmer now.” She jokingly demonstrated by leaning her hefty body back and forth, causing the bench creak under her wide backside.
“Well, let’s just hope Rainbow doesn’t sit there. It’s totally gonna break down if she gets on that thing,” Cloudy said as popped in a chicken nugget.
“Oh, yeah! Have you seen her lately?” Tennis exclaimed, chomping into her burger. “I thought she was big before she had to leave the team.”
“But now, she’s, like… huge.”
“Right? I know I shouldn't say much since I’m taking up, like, half this bench. But still, it’s kinda sad to watch her let herself go so much. You know what I mean?”
“Actually, she said she’s been doing alright,” Cloudy replied.
“Oh, really?”
“Yeah, like, she still wants to lose weight and get back into soccer later on. But, for now, she’s kinda going along with this whole fat thing, so she’s been totally cool with it.”
“Oh, okay. That’s good,” Tennis shrugged, “As long as she’s not too bummed about it.”
“Hey, by the way,” Cloudy asked, quickly changing the topic, “Did my nuggets come with the Sweet Chili and the Cajun sauce?”
