Do you remember when I used to brag about living a dream? Well, it quickly turned into a nightmare… To make a long story short, it's been about six months since I moved to Manhattan and I've started to work my way up in my theater group to get my first second and third roles. I'm getting along with everyone, especially Brown Hooves who seems to have noticed my artistic potential (her words), she even promised me that it wouldn't be long before I got my very first role! And as usual, she was right, but I never thought it would be like this…
As you can see, my very first role is actually… a female role… worse yet a princess role. I'm not overly enthusiastic about it, but I have no other choice if I want to pursue my passion. How did I get here? Well, it's a long story…
A few days ago, we received the scripts for a brand new play called: "The Tales of Princess Candy Pink" which tells the silly stories of a unicorn princess who wishes to find true love and ends up with the masked stallion, a thinly veiled copy of Zorro. The novel from which the play is based is a big hit with kids and Brown thought it would be great publicity for the theater, which is severely lacking in revenue.
At first, I had nothing against this play and I must admit that I was rather curious about the role of the masked stallion, even if I was not very comfortable with the idea of kissing a mare for the final scene. I've never been very lucky in love and I've never had the opportunity to kiss anyone yet, but on the other hooves I had to carry my ambitions and keep gaining popularity. But I barely had time to open my muzzle to propose my candidacy when a young yellow stallion took the liberty of taking the role. This pretentious stallion is called Golden Spoon and since he arrived here, he has never stopped taking all the good roles even though he lacks talent. However, he is the son of the owner of this cafe-theater and he does not fail to take advantage of his position to get all the privileges. This greatly upset Brown Hooves, but without this theater, it would be impossible for her to produce her work… So she was hoofed and had to do on this bum's terms.
That's when I made the biggest mistake of my life so far. I approached Golden and told him everything that was on my mind. He didn't exactly appreciate being called names by a pony who is struggling to make ends meet. For a while I was even afraid he would raise his hoof at me, if it turned into a fight I was almost certain to lose. Nevertheless, he relented and put on a big smile. "If it's a big role you want, then a big role I'm going to give you," were his words, before he turned to Brown and said, "I think we've found our princess Candy Pink".
And that's how I ended up in this dress… Of course I protested, I fought, but he made it clear that if I didn't play the princess, I would be fired from the company and I would have a hard time finding work in the theater world after that… That's how I was cursed by Princess Candy Pink… And you know what? I really don't want to kiss the idiot who trapped me in this dress…
