It can take weeks, months in some cases, before all the love a subject can produce has been extracted, leaving only an emotionless husk. At this point, subjects only approved for love extraction would be removed from the cocoon and left to die as they have outlived their usefulness to the hive, though a new process begins for those approved for conversion.
