Rarity had planned a trip to the Hippogriff Kingdom to gain some inspiration for her new fashion line and even bring some new options for the hippogriffs. She told her friends she`d write about her adventure and promised to be careful. After all, she wasnt going to be alone on her excursion. Capper had offered to be a sort of escort to Rarity as she traveled, a guard and guide of sorts. Well, towards the end of Rarity`s research trip, she began to notice changes in her body. She grew heavy and the morning sickness was just dreadful! She didnt want to believe it but, those careless night with Capper had led to her getting pregnant! But, how?! She didn`t think it would be possible since he was a Catfolk and she a unicorn. When it was time to return home, Rarity left a day ahead of Capper, leaving only a note saying that she must return home on urgent notice! Capper was worried of course, but he was asked to stay to assist the Hippogriff in some repair efforts of the kingdom. He`d be there quite some time.
When Rarity returned home, she made no announcement to her friends. They grew worried if she had made it home safely and wanted to know how her research went. Nervous and growing sick from her worry, Rarity decided to ask for one of the ponies she trusted most, Twilight. She frantically wrote to Twilight to come visit her and Twilight was at her door in a flash! Twilight`s frantic knocking startled Rarity and she sheepishly made her way down. "Are you alright, Rarity? What happened!" Twilight asked. Rarity quickly pulled Twilight inside and shut the door. "Twilight! I, I need your help!" Rarity whimpered and she turned the lights on. Twilight`s eyes widened as she saw Rarity`s swollen belly. "Rarity, are you-" Twilight began but before she could say anything, Rarity was begging at her hooves. "Please dont tell anyone!" Rarity sobbed. Twilight looked at Rarity confused and concerned. She gently lowered to the ground and said. "I promise, now please, tell me," Twilight said calmly.
Rarity explained her lustful nights with Capper and how she didnt think that she could even become pregnant! She had asked Twilight to come and assist her in doing as much research as possible on raising Catfolk. Twilight happily obliged and they spent the entirety of Rarity`s pregnancy researching and preparing for, well, what they could prepare for. It was unheard of, a Catfolk and unicorn hybrid. There was no real preparation to know what abilities the child would have or what theyd even look like! But Rarity wasnt concerned about that, she just wanted to be the best mother she could be!

Of course Rarity told the rest of her friends later about her sudden pregnancy and they made no judgement of their friend. After all, many of them already had their first children and some onto their second. They of course asked if she would tell Capper, but she never had any intention of letting him know. Twilight and Rarity had been tracking her pregnancy closely and had even determined the due date and that Rarity would give birth in Twilight`s castle so Twilight could monitor the birth and the newborn. Unfortunately, the baby decided its own due date. Rarity went into labor a day early. With no way to contact any one, she gave birth in her salon to a healthy baby boy. Of course she was found quickly after giving birth as she was nearly two hours late to arriving at Twilight`s castle. Twilight and Spike found Rarity quietly singing to a swaddled baby Emerald Elegance. They both fawned over the newborn, so small and furry! Twilight was amazed to see how the Catfolk genes combined with Rarity`s unicorn genetics to create a truly unique hybrid.

When Emerald got a bit older, Rarity took him along on a research trip to the Crystal Empire where they stopped by Donut Joe`s cafe many times. Joe always played with Emerald and snuck him an extra donut when Rarity wasnt looking. The two unicorns grew close during Rarity`s stay and eventually he asked her to date. It wasnt long before the two were married and Emerald was ecstatic to have a father. It would definitely take Joe time to get used to those claws.
