In a more RP-heavy game where the actors in play allow themselves to be vulnerable, maybe not everyone is at the same level of readiness. Sometimes the most boisterous player is the one that's least ready to open up. And that's okay. It's easier than you'd think to pull your punch and be gentle while still giving them a satisfying story.

Twilight Sparkle: I put the Element of Loyalty on Rainbow, and cast–
Rainbow Dash: Woah, hold on. I don't need any memory spell to remember who I am, got it? I never lost sight of that. …I don't want that to be my story.
DM: …Sure, okay! The spell reinforces your already strong resolve, pushing back against the chaos. You feel a power welling up from within – not a new power, but something deep down brought to the fore. And when it's over, you have your rainbow lightning Cutie Mark back!
Fluttershy: Yay!
Twilight Sparkle: Two down, three to go!
Rainbow Dash: So Rarity still has mine, yeah? We should probably take care of that next. This town isn't ready for TWO ponies THAT awesome.
