Short little piece for this drawing~

Heading down the hallway to one of the guest rooms in the castle, Cadence passed by a handful of guards, nodding her head in greeting as they all bowed. She asked them all how they were doing, and the group gave a positive response as they passed each other. Snow Quartz, having the room directly across from her cousin Blueberry, spotted her mother about to knock on his door.

“I haven’t seen him come out since dinner last night. You think he’s okay?”

Cadence turned and smiled, Snow standing in the doorway to her own bedroom. “I’m sure he’s fine, sweetie. You know how he can get lost in focus, just like Auntie Twilight.”

Snow Quartz nodded in understanding. “I left him a sandwich in front of the door after he missed breakfast, but I don’t know if he ate it.”

“That was very kind of you, Snowflake. I’ll make sure he’s eaten.” The alicorn gave her daughter a smile and knocked on the door, entering the guest room when she heard Blueberry absentmindedly say ‘come in’.

Deep in thought, Blueberry Tonic was at a desk, looking like he had just finished pouring a potion into a bottle. Wiping down the surface with a rag to clean up the minor mess created, the stallion turned toward his aunt. “Hi, Auntie! Want to see what I just finished?”

Spotting an empty plate, clearly the meal delivered by Snow Quartz and eaten by Blueberry, Cadence smiled. “Of course. You’ve been hard at work, haven’t you?”

Blue nodded, motioning for his aunt to come closer. The two sat down next to the desk and with a happy flourish, the unicorn lifted a large vial full of a brightly glowing brew. “I’ve been working on this since we discussed mood boosters last week, and I think I finally got the mixture right! I’ve been calling it Liquid Sunshine, because it offers the same positive effects of sunlight exposure. It increases Vitamin D and serotonin to improve mood and health, and it helps you sleep better at the end of the day!”

Cadence grinned proudly, looking down at Blueberry as he excitedly spoke of his new potion. When he noticed she was watching him, he smiled nervously and glanced away.

“I mean, I’m sure it can use improvement. I know it’s not a fully finished product yet, but I figure it’s better than making other stuff, right?” He paused, his eyes on the bottle in his hoof. “You think Mom would like it?”

With a nod, Auntie Cadence held his hoof with her own. “I think Twilight will love it. We’ll see at dinner tonight if anyone wants to try out your potion, they always seem up for some audience participation.”

“And you think it’s better, right?” Blue asked, glancing back up to her.

“Definitely better.”

The stallion grinned from ear to ear, leaving both feeling incredibly proud. Cadence knew how hard he had been working, and Blueberry was feeling like it was starting to pay off.
