Description:

TRIGGER WARNING; Death, grief, sickness. Be good to yourself and don't read if you're in a bad way.

I've been thinking a lot about loss and grief as I've lost 3 people I loved within the last 2 years. Not to mention I've reached a section of my schooling that deals with the fallout of the people we love passing away. I also thought about Big Mac and the role he has in his family after the loss of his wife Rolling Thunder.

To summarize, Big Mac was married to the jovial but often reckless Rolling Thunder from the flight group known as the Washout. They dated for over 2 years as Mac was cheated on by his previous girlfriend Sugar Belle. He knew he loved Rollie but he was slow to trust that time around. They ended up marrying sooner than expected as Rollie got pregnant with their daughter Zestar.

The couple were happy in a dysfunctional kind of way and there was a lot of love in this relationship. Rollie pissed off her sisters-in-law a bit but the Apple kin eventually accepted her as family when she showed she was willing to help the siblings with the overall running of Sweet Apple Acres. It was great…and then she died.

It was an accident as a stunt went wrong at one of the Washouts shows. Mac and Zestar were in the audience when it happened and though paramedics were quickly on the scene, she died as a result of her injuries before arriving at the ER.

For years after, Big Mac improperly grieved and enforced a complete ban on anything that reminded the family of Rollie. It wasn't until Golden Delicious began living on Sweet Apple Acres did someone finally step in and gently coaxed Mac into attending grief counselling. He included Shenan in on this counselling but Zestar remained distant. Eventually the two came to terms with the loss but Mac stayed in counselling to help others.

And one day, at one of those meetings Mac met a familiar face…Cheese Sandwich.

Cheese had been living in Ponyville for only two months as he and his daughters Fairy Floss and Roqueford moved away from Trottingham after the death of his wife, Clear Skies [not the same as Clear Sky. Clear Skies is the purple pegasus who was a part of that Abbott & Costello-esk scene from "Tanks for The Memories"]

It wasn't sudden, as Clear Skies had been sick for years. However her illness had been hard on the family. So when she passed, Cheese felt he and the girls needed a change. He had friends in Ponyville and he thought the girls would have an easier time in a young ponies town like Ponyville.
Pinkie Pie welcomed the family and even suggested the grief counselling course Mac and Shenan attended. And that's where it started!

Onto Mac and Cheese as a couple! Cheese adored Mac's drag persona of Mare Applette and really encouraged him to preform and dress however he felt. Mac really identified with Cheese's plight, being a widowed father of two himself. The two got on like a house on fire as Cheese could easily make Mac bellow with laughter.
As of the present El-Rom timeline, Mac and Cheese are happily dating and living on Sweet Apple Acres with their kids Shenan, Flossie and Rockie!
They both struggle sometimes when they think of the ones they've lost, but overall they are happy together.
