Both boys are starting kindergarten, Moondust prior to running off after his mother, Trixie, barely comes home anymore (her little /shack/ or trailer that she's always in in the MLP TV series) and Daydream semi getting unwanted attention because his mummy, Rainbow Dash, is well known in Ponyville and slowly starts getting scrutinized. They find small comfort in each other's presence.
