Unlike purebred unicorns, purebred pegasi are solid in any color but white or black. Many believe pegasi came from rainbows.

Their mother Twilight Velvet is a purebred unicorn while their father is a regular unicorn with earth pony and pegasus genes. Twilight has a straight horn and a regular tail but Shining Armor has a curved horn and traditional tail from his mother. Rainbow Dash has a second set of feathers while Fluttershy does not.
