I've seen :iconlopoddity: and :iconvindhov: do headcanon pics for their headcanons on canon characters, so I thought it'd be fun to do with some of mine. So let's do some with royal dragons SO's!
The Great and Honorable Spike the Brave and Glorious, #1 assistant/Crystal Empire saver/Dragon Ambassador/Dragon Lord for all of 5 minutes, originated as Spike, and raised by Twilight Sparkle. However, as he got older, Twilight got more adjusted to being a princess/school principal, with help from her friends and counselor Starlight, she noticed Spike feeling like he was less needed, despite the many times she's assured him otherwise. To give him a sense of needing, she sent him to the Crystal Empire to help out another princess who needed a #1 assistant; Flurry Heart.
There, he was naturally adored as The Brave and Glorious, for saving the Crystal Empire twice, and changing their perspective of changelings. An he became Flurry's closest friend and adviser, aside from Starburst. He helped her with time prioritizing, a magic skill guinea pig, and fellow geek to discuss the ongoing plotline to the latest edition of Power Ponies.
As of now Spike permanently resides in the Crystal Empire, of course with the monthly visit to Twilight, and lives with his wife Princess Flurry Heart, and their son The Wonderful and Noble Gilspotten the Distinguished and Marvelous.
He enjoys Power Ponies, rubies, spamming Twilight with baby pictures of his son, and romantic spa days with Flurry Heart.
Dragon Lord Ember has tried very hard to get dragons to integrate with ponies, and get past the stereotype of dragons being harsh and brute creatures. To push this further, she came to a mutual political marriage with Princess Celestia.
Aside from being Dragon Lord, she is a trainer to the Royal Guard, specifically the dragon division, and only the toughest ponies can past her. She comes across as very intimidating to pony subjects with her short-ish temper and assertive nature. However, she is not unreasonable and is shown to be strict, but fair. Of course this still makes a silent minority very nervous about her
She resides in Canterlot (now dragonsneeze tree-free), with her wife Celestia and their 2 children, Prince Scorch and Princess Lenore.
She enjoys sword and armor crafting, fights of dominance, training her son in defense, occasionally trolling with her daughter's laziness,and secret silly snuggles with Tia.
Fizzle grew up as an ordinary dragon in the Dragon Lands, with the only stand-out being his albinism, a recessive trait for dragons. In truth, he was a lot like Spike, in being more gentle than other dragons, but knew to keep silent about it to avoid being mercilessly bullied. As a teenager, he more leaned to Garble's gang, in the hopes of having something like a pack, the closest to friends dragons had. He fire belched and lava bathed, but avoided pheonix egg smashing and King of the Hoard, and it was pretty clear to the gang, and himself, that he was the weakest link. He met Spike, and while admittedly laughed at him, didn't really have a problem with him, while he fell into the back of Spike's mind compared to Garble and his other friends. However, that changed later when he heard of a School of Friendship, for everyone.
So he went to Ponyville to find Spike, who at first was skeptical, but later agreed to teach him. While Fizzle was too old to be a student, he still learned through Ponyville, and Spike later helped to make him a royal assistant to the princesses. Through that, he became more help to Princess Luna, to finally be someone to be awake when she was so she wouldn't be alone. Which he was fine with, since most day ponies felt intimidated by him. Not by his personality (Celestia once described him as a cinnamon roll), but because he was so big and had such large pointy teeth, and his smile looked less cute and more…incredibly unsettling.
Now, Fizzle lives in Canterlot with his wife Princess Luna and the 2 have an adorably shy daughter, Princess Incandescence.
Fizzle enjoys lavender, receiving romantic bouquets from his wife, playing late-at-night video games, and lava baths.

Spike is small, not pony small, but small compared to other dragons, mainly due to suppressing his greed and still being relatively young. But he does get a little bulky from one too many helpings of deep fried gems. He doesn't get the mustache he wanted, but does get something like a beard.
Ember is bigger than before, but still relatively small and thin. But more in a lean and mean way, lean and muscular, very toned.
Fizzle is the biggest of the 3, not muscle or bulk, just naturally big. And has more protruded teeth. He has something of scale facial hair, that Incandescence calls "the unshaveables". He also has a stutter, something he passed down to his daughter.
