Drawn for Equestria Daily's Artist Training Grounds event, day 21: Draw a pony returning home from a long jounrey / Draw a pony on an adventure. It's Twilight Sparkle, captain of the HMS Heatstroke! She's sailing the uncharted waters, looking for new lands to colonize in the name of the Equestrian Empire. Or else she's [insert headcanon here].

I'm not sure how this picture got made. I certainly didn't want to draw today. I just sat down with a piece of paper to humor that annoying "don't break the chain" thought in the back of my head, and my hand kept moving until I had something that could pass as a finished drawing, if you squint your eyes. I had no faith that I was going to complete this at any point. It was just something to do, and there kept being things that bugged me about it so I'd fix em. And now it's here, my happy little accident. I've learned that I consistently go too small with flourish-y parts e.g. her coat and the folds of her hat. Prolly coulda made her mane stand out a bit more. And don't even get me started on her legs/feet, that's just embarrassing. But that's why we have these events! To grow as artists.
