It is true, that he leads an unhealthy life when he snoops around town, consuming cheroots and fizzy malts, and taking ill company. His left eye is badly damages, and often looks in a different direction that his other eye isn't. Its pupil is also much smaller than his right eye.
> A look over his body reveals his previous wounds from his encounters with the creatures he hunts for trophy collectors. He has many scratches and bite wounds, and had been kicked in the chest badly from his early days, which resulted in his chest bones to break and heal improperly, giving him the strange angled chest he has now. He also rarely eats, and what he does consume doesn't help at all. He bears a skeletal appearance, often staggering around on long and unsteady legs, his dark mane unkept and slopped over his face. He usually carriers around a small bayonet, much to everypony's disgust.
> Salem isn't very friendly either. He usually snaps at anyone brave enough to walk within twenty feet of him. With mares, it's worse. He cat calls in such rude ways, and immediately sets to death threats and insults if he gets no response. Ponies believe he's insane, though no one's brave enough to do anything about him. He also has a bad habit of getting into fights.
> Lately he's been circling with two other amateur hunters in Canterlot. He's also sporting a fresh injury to his right hind leg that seems to have given him a limp. What he's up to or where he'll go is a mystery.
