When the Bureau of Superheroes was founded back in 2000, China was supposedly made as the primary governing body for superheroes within both North Korea and Vietnam, as a deal that was struck when the Superhero Relations Accords was put before the united nations. This was so that China could have only one superhero that would protect the 3 nations, when it actuality they would only protect China itself, that hero being Tigress Titan, National Heroine of China.
In Secret however, both to spit in the face of the United Nations and it’s western founders and at the approving nod of members of the Chinese communist government, North Korea had followed China’s own secret program to have super powered fursons within it’s military force. Known as Project Heaven’s Gate, which originally started back in the late 80’s was rammed up after the accords were approved by the united nations, and by 2004, North Korea had 7 loyal super powered individuals to project both the homeland and to serve as bodyguards and agents for the Dear Leader.
One of them being the super known only as Chollima, who was selected as both leader of 7 as well as National Heroine of North Korea, given her appearance and title matching that of the famous Chollima from korean myth. Skilled in archery, swordplay and trained to use almost every weapon in the North Korean Arsenal, Chollima and the other 6 supers for the program, which included, Ungnyeo, Qianlima, Dokkaebi, Senrima & the soon to be infamous Sheng Gang T'an; were all meant to serve and die for the Dear Leader if needed, but were considered nearly as valuable as the dear leader himself.
That would soon be tested when the Second Korean War erupted in 2004, after Sheng launched operation steel rain, his attempt to destroy both countries and spark a far greater regional conflict. Before the discovery of the Serpent rebellion, Chollima and the other supers, through against South Korean, Japanese, Australian and American troops, U.N.I.T, and South Korean’s newly founded National Heroine Myeongseong in many brutal battles during the war.
Myeongseong and Chollima developed and aggressive rivalry as both supers came close to killing each other in several encounters. This was only intensified after Myeongseong had killed Dokkaebi in his attempt to destroy a South Korean armored division in an ambush. Chollima herself and the rest of the supers would then swear revenge on Myeongseong but their chance to get that revenge would soon be shattered when the serpent rebellion was finally uncovered.
Under direct orders from the Dear Leader himself, Chollima was instructed to work alongside a joint North Korean/South Korea/Allied forces assault on Sheng’s super gun base, and while she disliked the idea of working alongside MyeongSeong, the two of them along with Ranger from the U.N.I.T Took on sheng and his forces in battle, with the combined forces able to destroy the super gun batteries and put an end to the war.
At the Peace conference which restarted the Armistice treaty, both Chollima and Myeongseong had a tense conversation, and while both took away a greater understanding for each other, Chollima stated that when the time comes she will slay Myeongseong in battle when the time comes, even as both sides wished that the chaos of the recent war would finally bring about talks of reunification.
To this day, Chollima is still active within North Korea, along with the 4 other remaining supers from project Heaven’s Gate. They often appear in propaganda footage and during the annual state parade, always by the side of their Dear Leader. Rumors are that they often operate along the border, with Chollima taunting south korean troops and demanding Myeongseong come and fight her, it is widely believed that years without a fulfilling opponent are starting to make her snap!
