I recently noticed that I never really drew a legit picture of Sprout from a New Generation and I think it's time to change that, so instead I didn't only draw one but Two images of him! This is the first one and it shows him as the domineering antagonist we saw him as in the movie. He is certain, stands his ground and will use any type of propaganda to accomplish his goals!
In this drawing, I wanted the stallion to portray dominance… well, sort of. I mean come on, he stole some foal's ice cream to use it as a unicorn horn and spread fear into the other villagers — it's a little silly, don't you think? XD Well, here we have the ice cream cone on his head as he is standing demanding and tall.
I wanted to create a big contrast in this image with two things: 1) of course the fact that he's an evil dictator kind of guy in this piece while doing something silly as mentioned with the ice cream and 2) with the colours of Green and Red, playing against eachother. The latter sadly didn't work out as much as I intended it to even if I tried and I can explain why: I had literally NO green marker with me when I created this art piece. I had 60 colours and green wasn't one. So every shade of green that you see was created with a strong blending and layering process. Can you imagine? Does it show? Especially the background was challenging to create in a more or less colour as I used a Canarian Yellow and put some bright turquoise over it. Boy, that was rough but I managed! I'm very proud that so much effort went into this piece, at least getting somewhat close to what I invisioned even if not fully there. It's still not too bad in my opinion.
But what do you think? Did you believe that I didn't use a single green marker for this? And what do you think of Sprout? I'd love to hear from you!
