One of Ember's students is a young blue dragon named Cobalt. One day, he discovered a strange artifact — six of them. Cobalt felt a strange connection to one of the artifacts. Ember felt a strange connection with another. When Ember summoned Spike and Smolder, they, too, felt a connection with these artifacts. When Smolder talked with Garble about Cobalt's discovery, Garble felt a connection as well. Another of Ember's students, named Firebomb, found herself feeling a strange connection.
As the dragons handled the artifacts, Cobalt started to guess … that these were the Dragon Elements of Harmony. Then he discovered an ancient manual — buried around the artifacts. When Firebomb deciphered the language, she came to this conclusion: These were the long-lost Elements of Brotherhood & Sisterhood! And they stood for the following qualities:
As their Elements resonated with one another, the "Dragon 6" found themselves growing in size. It seemed to never stop … until all of them were many miles tall! They could flatten entire cities with just one stomp! Deep inside, Ember had always wanted to destroy cities — to show off her true powers. But she didn't wish to endanger innocent life — she needed a safe way to let out her destructive desires.
According to the ancient manual, the Elements give their bearers the power to grow so big that they can stomp on mountains. And because they are powered by the magic of friendship, it is nearly impossible to kill anyone (or cause serious injuries) by accident. The dragon titans can destroy kingdoms to their hearts' content and leave no dead bodies (nor does anyone have to go to the hospital). Moreover, they can reverse at least most of their destruction. In other words — these Elements were specially built for dragons to be destructive conquerors — yet be kind and gentle in doing so!
Holding Cobalt's hand, Ember and he grew as far as they could go. Cobalt became far more massive than he ever thought a creature could be. He looked down below. To him, the cities looked like patches of sand. Cobalt loved the feeling of sand between his toes, and he really wanted to sink his toes into these tiny cities. But he was feeling shy. He always viewed himself as a kind and gentle boy. It wasn't like him to feed his appetite for destruction.
With encouragement from Lord Ember, he started to make a few steps. Then he sat down. He was feeling really shy about expressing his true powers as a titan dragon. Ember was not upset — she admired Cobalt's first few steps. Already, he had destroyed some major cities — and remains of these cities were caught between his toes and all under his soles! Ember wrapped her arm around Cobalt — and praised him for grinding these helpless cities into dust!
Cobalt blushed with affection. He never thought that Ember would show such motherly love toward him. With her as the wind under his wings, he was determined not to let her down. He was going to conquer and destroy his very first kingdom — in the name of friendship! And then he was going to undo the damage — and assure his terrified subjects that he comes in peace. In sparing everyone's lives, he was going to make lots of new friends and fans!
