In the outskirts of town at Lake Pegasi a group of friends came for some rest and relaxation; Three mares, a stallion, two colts, and two fillies. The foals immediately rushed out towards the beach with their buckets, ready to make sand castles while a yellow Pegasus and silver mare watched on smiling.
“It looks like the young ones are ready to have their fun…” The yellow Pegasus smiled, carrying a pool toy with her; an inflatable donut.
“Indeed they are, Gentle Star.” The silver mare replied. “Go on and relax on your float. I’ll keep an eye on Apricot and the others.”
“You always know what to say.” Gentle Star smiled as she embraced her companion Shadow Dweller tightly. She then took her doughnut with her as she threw it out onto the lake, flying out to it and laid down against it, smiling widely now.
“Ahhh… this is the life…” She said to herself as she sighed gently, looking over at the shoreline as Shadow Dweller was teaching their daughter Apricot Marmalade to make sandcastles.
“You start out at the bottom, дорогая.” Shadow Dweller said gently to her. “The foundation is the most important part in building a castle, dearest.”
“I understand!” Apricot said with a smile. “After the foundation is laid down, I can build the rest of the castle, right?”
“Of course!” Shadow Dweller smiled warmly at her. “It’ll be a grand castle indeed…” She then looked at the other three foals as they were watching. “Come here, young ones. Help Apricot with the castle.”
As the three foals were helping out Apricot Marmalade, a cerulean Pegasus and a silver stallion were watching as the stallion rubbed the mare’s wings.
“Mmmm… that feels so good, Maverick…” She said gently to him as the stallion smiled.
“Only the best for my dearest Ocean Soul…” Maverick smiled back, smooching her as he continued to rub her wings. “Besides, the last thing I would want is your wings to get sunburnt.”
Ocean Soul then looked out at the Ocean as Gentle Star waved to her. She waved back. “Gentle out there is having so much fun.”
“She is living out her dream of being on a lake with her loved ones. Perhaps you should go out and see her.” Maverick suggested.
“Really? What will you do?”
Maverick smiled, pointing at the giant beach ball he brought along. “I think you will know what I’ll be doing…”
Ocean Soul smiled, rolling her eyes as she smooched Maverick, flying out to the lake as Maverick made his way towards the beach ball, smiling at it, holding it close to him.
“Don’t worry… I’m here now…” He smiled, squeezing the beach ball gently…
“More sand here!” The youngest colt said, pointing to an area of the castle as it was getting bigger and bigger.
“Good thinking, Sunset Spirit…” Shadow Dweller smirked, filling that exact section with more sand.
“The castle has to be taller! It has to be!” The older colt, Sunset’s brother said.
“Calm down, Scorched Earth! We’re getting there!” Stormy Tempest, his twin sister spoke.
“Be nice to your brother!” Apricot Marmalade spoke, pointing towards Scorched Earth. “He’s a good brother to you!”
“Teamwork, comrades! Work together to make this castle something that we can all be proud of!” Shadow Dweller spoke somewhat boldly as the 4 continued to work harder and harder. Out in the lake, Ocean and Gentle were watching as smiles lit up on their faces.
“They work great together…” Gentle Star smiled warmly at the foals.
“They really do. Mine love playing with Apricot. Somepony must have taught them well.” Ocean Soul smirked at Gentle Star as she blushed gently.
“You are too kind, deary.” Gentle Star giggled, placing a hoof over Ocean Soul as the two then looked at Maverick as he hugged the beach ball. “Maverick sure loves to squish that toy, doesn’t he?”
“It’s cute!” Ocean said. “I love seeing him happy.”
As Maverick was spending time alone, the three foals ran up to him, smiling widely.
“Daddy! Come see the castle we made!” Stormy Tempest said excitedly.
“We worked so hard on it!” Scorched Earth added.
“Please, papa!” Sunset Spirit begged gently. Maverick smirked.
“Hahaha… OK, my foals! Show this old-timer what you did!” The three then led Maverick as he stood over the castle, looking at the work that they had done. Maverick immediately had a tear running down his face as he saw their work. Shadow Dweller took notice.
“Friend… are you OK?” She asked, placing a hoof on his shoulder.
“You five… you made this?” Maverick asked, still sniffling.
“We did, uncle Mavvy!” Apricot said excitedly. “We all worked on it!”
“I put up the flag!” Sunset Spirit smiled proudly as Maverick saw a stick with a small piece of paper on it.
Maverick sniffled once again as he held out his hooves, embracing his foals. “All of you are so talented…” He said gently, smooching each one of them. It was at that time that Gentle Star and Ocean Soul came ashore, taking their inflatable with them as they smiled at the foals. Ocean Soul hugged Maverick tightly as Gentle Star embraced Apricot Marmalade.
“My dearest… did you do this?” Gentle Star asked Apricot, who nodded back at her.
“Indeed I did!” Apricot said excitedly. “But I also had help of Shadow Dweller and my cousins!”
Ocean Soul giggled lightly. “The work you all did was nothing short of amazing, my dearies. You should all be so proud.”
“Of course we are! We spent so much time on it!” Stormy Tempest said proudly.
“If it wasn’t for all of our teamwork, we would not be able to make such a wonderful castle!” Scorched Earth added.
“This is Castle Companionship!” Sunset Spirit finished. “It will stay here forever and ever.”
“Indeed it will…” Ocean Soul said as she looked at Maverick, who had a tear rolling down his eye. She smiled gently, wiping it off and smooching him as she quickly ran back, grabbing the beach ball for Maverick. All three then sat down admiring the castle as the foals then began to put on a show together for the parents for fun.
