The particular drawing hints at a somewhat melancholic tone. Here's a drawing of Grandpa Gruff visiting the Griffinstone cemetery, or as Griffons call it, "Garden Of Remembrance"*, with little Gallus tagging along. The elder has been looking after cubs long before he became the Griffon town's leader, even during his childhood. The ones who have departed to greener pastures are fondly remembered by their caretaker/ older brother-like figure/ grandfather long after their passing and their stories are told by him with pleasure. Gruff celebrates his late protégés' lives and looks after their descendants, honoring their memory and legacy. Right now, Gruff reminisces about some of them to the little, keenly interested cub. *The Garden Of Remembrance serves as Griffinstone's cemetery and is where the souls of all the Griffons of the olden times are resting. Some of the gravestones have a good distance from each other, but family stones are always located close to one another. The stones appear to have cracked over the years. The place also houses the mausoleum of the Great Griffon Kings.
