—- Picture context:
As Hitch is watching his daughter play around in the living room, the small pegasus starts to do something rather peculiar with her tiny wings. They quiver and twitch, almost as if they were being prepared for something. She even beings to flap them, making his eyes widen in pure excitement.
Could this be what I think it is?!
The earth pony quickly grabs his girlfriend, squishing her close as he focused on the toddler flexing her wings.
"Ah" Zipp squeaked before Hitch cut me off.
"LOOK! Our baby's gonna fly!" He announced stary-eyed. Zipp glanced at her daughter doing her strange little stretching session and couldn't help but roll her eyes. She loved Hitch, she truly did, but his lack of knowledge about pegasi was a bit annoying to say the least. Of course, she couldn't be too hard on him. It wasn't that long ago that any pegasus could fly so she could see how a specific behavior relating to flying could be easy to misunderstand. As the couple watched the 2 year old hop into the air, wings twitching as if she would flap at any moment, the ex princess groaned as the large earth pony drew her impossibly closer.
"Babe, she's just stretching out her wings." She explained patiently enough but not without a hint of exasperation. "She's not ready to"
Maroon promptly fell on her face, blowing a soft raspberry at her failed attempted at flight. Zipp burst into a fit of hysterical laughter while Hitch looked on in horror.
"HAHAHAHAHA!" Zipp howled with more laughter.
"NOOOOOO!" Hitch cried.
"Shit, I can't stop laughing! Your face man!" Zipp chuckled as she finally stopped her laughing fit and rubbed her eyes. She swiftly scooped up her wide eyed daughter and brought her over to Hitch, smiling more sweetly.
"She's fine Hitch. Falls like this happen." She assured the sheriff, making him sigh and nuzzle Maroon. She blew a raspberry at him.
"I though for sure she was going to fly." He said, downtrodden.
"I don't blame ya. What she was actually doing is called Wing stretching. It's an important skill to develop for us. It makes sure our wings are properly ready for flight. It also builds the muscle. Magic makes us fly but you won't go very far with weak wings. Now lighten up! She'll be flying before you know it."
Hitch smiled and kissed Zipp on the forehead, making her a blushing mess.
