Velvet Remedy is gone, vanished in the night. She has opened the great, sealed door of Stable 2 and ventured outside — the first pony to do so since the underground shelter was sealed 200 years ago. And by having Littlepip remove her PipBuck, there is no way to track her. The Overmare in charge tries to maintain proper order as shock ripples through the Stable, the ponies realising they will never see their beloved songstress again…

And so, feeling the weight of responsibility, and her own infatuation with Velvet Remedy, Littlepip takes it upon herself to go out after the charcoal-coated mare. No matter the cost…

No you wont! If you leave here, youll never be let back in!
For a moment, the unfairness stung. The Overmare was willing to send out a search party to bring Velvet Remedy back. But then, Velvet was special, and I was not.
Part of me wanted to turn back right there, crawl back to my room and my dreary but safe life.
Drawing myself up, I stepped out the door.
