While the place was not in bad shape, she could tell the caretakers had their hooves full. There were so many foals here in need of homes, she made a mental note to spread the word to her acquaintances to consider adoption, whether she brought a foal home herself or not.
Luna could barely take a step before a group of foals ran past her, caught up in a game. She was touched by their innocence and joy as she watched them play but she failed to notice the little pegasus colt flying straight towards her.
“Oof!”
The colt slammed right into her in his distracted, excitable state, sending both of them tumbling to the ground.
“Whoops! Didn’t see ya there!”
He got right up, laughing and completely unfazed as he helped the older mare get up.
“It’s quite alright, young one.”
Luna assured him, still recovering from the shock of being knocked over.
“Do tell, what is your name?”
“I’m Ravenclaw!”
He beamed.
“You’re Queen Luna right?”
“Yes, I am—er, was.”
Instead of bowing to her or performing any other formalities, his smile remained as bright as before.
“Awesome! Maybe you can use your Queen powers to get us adopted! Not that this isn’t a cool place to be too.”
“Raven! Hurry up! You’re it!”
He took notice of his friends calling to him.
“Anyways, I gotta get back to tag with the guys! I’ll see you around!”
With that, Ravenclaw sped off as quickly as he came.
Luna was left stunned by this conversation. Any other pony would have been absolutely mortified if they so much as nudged a member of the royal family such as herself. They would be apologizing profusely and groveling at her feet, insisting they would never forgive themselves. But this colt, after outright knocking her down, simply laughed it off like it was no big deal.
Honestly, it was a welcome change, being treated like just another pony. Luna was going to have to keep an eye on this colt. She quite liked him.
