Description:

Queen Luna and Princess Amore's friendship hit the country like a thunderbolt. The unlikely royals became fast friends; despite her immortal age (and being old was very different than having been around for a long time, as Luna often reminded her older sister) the Nightbringer was very much a young mare, and was immediately intrigued by this leather-clad warrior-princess and her talk of ships and swords. The North became the fabled home to many legends and stories to Luna, who would visit there often in the years that followed. Celestia, ever prudent, was careful to influence their growing country from a safe distance; warm, but never close enough to burn, much like the Sun she embodies. Luna, on the other hoof, would mingle with their subjects in less dignified ways, and quickly took a habit to refusing dinner with important mandataries to escape to a local inn with Amore, or race over The Everfree's moonkissed forest while the northern princess cheered her on.

Amore, on her part, made sure the young ruler stayed safe; she became a rose-tinted shadow to Luna, ever at her side, and were it not for her own princely title surely Luna would've publicly named Amore her sworn shield and knight. Princess Amore would visit the training yard almost every morning, to sparr with members of the royal guard while Luna cheered her on, laughing brightly every time her knightly companion won yet another encounter. It was said that nopony was closer to the Moon Goddess, save for the Solar Queen herself, and rightfully so. Princess Amore boasted of a place of high honor at the Sisters' court, ever by their side at feasts and tournies…And as the silver glow of the stars receded to the glorious dawn and Night Court was dismissed, a slightly tired Luna would retire to Stargrace's Water Gardens, to lounge and rest as Amore basked in the cool pools under Celestia's morning light. Their time alone, although well filled with laughter, would mostly be quiet, as they shared a tranquility in company the Lunar Queen hadn't known since the day of her death and rebirth. It was here that a small flower would blossom, between the pale knight and her dark lady; though stark against the rising sun, Amore thought Luna was the brightest light in the world.

It was a good thing to spend time with an equal, Luna decided; Celestia remained her closest companion, bound to her by cosmic powers incomprehensible to mortal ponies. The joys and trials of Alicornhood nopony else knew but the Sisters themselves, the sorrows of immortality and the exhilarance of primal power tasted by them alone… And yet, the Sisters were as different as, ha, the sun and the moon. Celestia was motherly and serene where Luna was childlike and loud, Celestia hesitant and cautious where Luna was rash. The Sun excelled where the Moon faltered, and so they complemented each other perfectly as friends and rulers…and, consequently, remained complete opposites. There was more to this, both knew— Something that went beyond even their understanding, something to do with the divine nature of their being. They were creatures of light, born from the same ancient powers of creation, and yet they were not the same. It wasn't just their skills, such as Celestia's bond with nature or Luna's dreamwalking, but the essence of the Day and the Night that had seeped into their souls. There was a sense of grandness that Celestia carried with her that Luna could simply not match, and a gentle darkness in the younger alicorn that the eldest could never understand.

These differences would not trouble them until much later, however, and for a long time happiness, true happiness reigned in their hearts- Equestria thrived, and at its heart the Sisters grew as twin flowers watered by their people's love and faith. And, ever at their side was the Princess Amore, so beautiful in her passion and dynamism.

Yes, Luna decided. It was good to have someone who would see beyond her regalia, someone who would laugh and cry and whisper in the late hours of night with her, like normal ponies did. In her long life she had known praise and worship, feverent devotion only offered to long forgotten deities in Equestria's ancient history…And yet, none had touched her as the blossoming warmth in her heart whenever the Patron of Love graced her with a grin. It was good to have someone to trust, to confide in, to make jokes with and confess dreams to, to…love, as normal ponies did. As she once had, and not since many decades now.

One soul, in two bodies. It was good.

aaand heres some promised luna/amore (lunamore? amuna?) development! i just wanted to doodle something goofy and lighthearted. this was done in about three hours straight, certainly the quickest ive done a hollyverse pic. it might be rushed, but it was very enjoyable to draw some gay ponies while waiting for clients to get back to me :] i hope you like it!
lil detail: one of luna's fangs is poking out, a bat pony trait. i like to think it takes some slight concentration to keep up her non-bat appearance, and amore unwillingly gets luna distracted
