Reminder that these are solely my opinions and not those of fans from respective shows or book. It's absolutely fine if you like these characters, but just keep in mind that they do deserve criticism.
10.) Any of the SuperMarioLogan characters I know I sound like a broken record criticizing Super Mario Logan, but honestly… is there anything bad left to say about the whole series?
The characters are annoying as hell, don't come across as sympathetic, never have proper character development, Cody's obsession with his Ken doll is shoved down your throat to the point it's making fun of LGBT people, and Jeffy is an insult to autistic people like myself!
No, not even the classic characters can salvage the mess that is SML! Then again, SML was always bad, it just got worse when Logan introduced Jeffy…
9.) Chancellor Neighsay from My Little Pony Don't get me wrong, Chancellor Neighsay is intimating enough to be feared, and does actually feel like somepony you'd never want to run into. But the problem with him? His character reform was undeserved!
Seriously, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic already had so many villain redemptions as it did, but Neighsay's reform was literally blatant about it! And the reason he reformed was because of a "few bad experiences with creatures".
…Except they never show us why he hated non-pony creatures, which just makes Neighsay's motivations as a villain bland! I think the writers and/or Hasbro should have made him the real villain of School Raze instead of Cozy Glow so his motivations for a bad guy would be better.
8.) Mami Nanami from Rent-a-Girlfriend Mami Nanmi is the most sadistic and heartless character of the whole series.
Granted; she does have motivations as a villain, unlike Neighsay, but every time Mami appears onscreen, I want to smack her in the face. Kazuya didn't deserve a girlfriend like her, and I felt bad for Chizuru when Mami emotionally manipulated her in the last episode of Season 1.
So yeah, I don't want to have a girlfriend like Mami. Needless to say, she does at least come across as intentionally unlikeable, and will gladly take her over a certain character I'll get to soon…
7.) Mr. and Mrs. Turner from The Fairly OddParents! I don't watch The Fairly OddParents anymore since it wasn't exactly good to begin with. Then again; Butch Hartman, the creator of the show, wasn't any better.
However, Timmy Turner's parents are incompetent. They never look after their son properly, and don't come across as sympathetic at all! They're a giant middle finger to parents that actually care for their children, and even if they had their moments in the show, the fact remains that they are irresponsible parents, making you wonder why they even had a son at all.
6.) Wilbert from The Railway Series Oh, boy… I'm not gonna make a lot of friends with this controversial choice, but that's besides the point.
The point is, Wilbert the Forest Engine isn't a good character. Why? Simple, he's got no flaws as a character, he's just another generic nice guy. Sure, he's said to be clever and a nature lover like Henry (in the magazines, at least), but that personality could have gone to anyone! It could have gone to BoCo or Bear, the latter especially, who was severely underdeveloped!
"But Wilbert has a cool basis, the Hunslet Austerity 0-6-0ST class and was named after Wilbert Awdry!" Well, guess what? That makes me hate Wilbert even more! He may as well be the worst character of the Railway Series, maybe the worst Awdry-created character as a whole!
It makes me glad his book wasn't adapted for television, there's so little you can do with Wilbert as a character. Then again, a lot of Christopher Awdry's characters were as appealing as a piece of sandpaper. Just goes to show how overrated they are by fans, and how underdeveloped they were in the books.
5.) Darcy from Thomas & Friends This is also probably going to be a controversial choice for Thomas fans, but I don't particularly like Darcy. At all.
To put it short, she's Thumper all over again, only she actually speaks. I know realism isn't the main factor seeing that the series has never been actually realistic once, but her actions with her drill in First Day on Sodor left harmful implications that it's okay to be very reckless, even when you're supposed to be staying still before you reach your destination.
And I'm sorry… but Deep Trouble; despite being written by Michael White, one of the best writers on the show, didn't change my views on Darcy. Sure, she was more cautious and level-headed than she was in her debut episode, but by then it was too little, too late. Deep Trouble is Michael's weakest episode to date.
Yes, I find Deep Trouble even weaker than Out of Site and The Great Little Railway Show, an episode that many fans kind of disliked (even Michael himself stated that TGLRS was his weakest effort)! But the good news is, at least I won't have to worry about Darcy appearing ever again.
4.) Luster Dawn from My Little Pony Luster Dawn is not only one of the worst characters of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, but also one of the most unoriginal!
She's basically Twilight Sparkle from Season 1 all over again, but without the charm or any unique, distinctive character. Luster Dawn felt more like a plot device than actual character in The Last Problem just to allow the story to happen, and seeing that she was going to make friends the same way Twilight did when she was younger, there's not much point to Luster Dawn's existance in the long run.
Luster Dawn is one of the laziest characters the show ever spewed, and I don't see any redeeming qualities for her.
3.) Chitose Kaginoji from Tonikawa: over the Moon for You Chitose Kaginoji? More like… Shitose Killmenowji!!
God, I cannot stand this little blonde brat in the slightest! She's borderline overprotective of her "sister" Tsukasa Tsukuyomi when Nasa Yuzaki marries her. I know Shitose is only fourteen-years old and people at that age can get jealous when certain people close to them get married, but her overreactions to Nasa and Tsukasa's relationship are so goddamn annoying, it's not even funny in the slightest!!
At least Mami Nanami was intentionally written as unlikable. With Shitose? She's so unlikable, I literally want to punch her in the fucking face for being such an annoying brat and constantly harassing Nasa and Tsukasa's innocent marriage!! I feel extremely sorry that the married couple, as well as her close friends Charlotte and Aurora, have to put up with Shitose's bullshit.
Now, I understand that without a personality like Chitose's, she wouldn't be interesting, and that she kind of toned her attitude down by the ending of the first season of the anime, but it's too little, too late for me. Not to mention, her tsundere personality is a borderline stereotype at its absloute worst. Hell, even Taiga Aisaka from Toradora isn't this petty!
Chitose's importance as a character for Tonikawa: Over the Moon for You lost any value it had the when she first appeared onscreen. If I were Chitose's parent or guardian, I would have grounded her the moment she stalked Nasa and Tsukasa out of extreme jealousy!
Wow, I talked a lot about Shitose Killmenowji a lot more than I intended to. TL;DR, she's pretty much the D.W. Read, Diamond Tiara, and/or Cozy Glow of Tonikawa: Over the Moon for You, just one-hundred times worse and unbearable.
2.) Ace from Thomas & Friends I think that enough people like myself have already rambled on how awful of a character Ace truly is. But he's not the number 1 worst character on this list. That honor goes to…
1.) Post-S5 Twilight Sparkle from My Little Pony Out of all the Mane Six post-Season 5, Twilight Sparkle got hit with the idiot stick hard. Every now and then, she got a good role such as Top Bolt, A Flurry of Emotions, and even the Movie.
Unfortunately, starting out with No Second Prances, she slowly regressed to the way she was before Lesson Zero, and it's something Twilight will never be able to recover from. Since then, she had small instances where she acted like a hypocrite including Marks for Effort, or really horrible episodes such as The Point of No Return and especially A Trivial Pursuit.
I know that Twilight has to have flaws to be likable, but if you go too far of exaggerating them, then there's a big problem in writing your episodes. Twilight should have gotten over freaking out over the smallest things since Lesson Zero, I can understand her freaking out in the first five seasons, but after Season 6, her character development went right off the rails!
The post-Season 5 Twilight Sparkle is the complete antithesis of Twilight Sparkle's character, and she really had it bad especially in the final season of the show. In fact, her overreactions in the season felt like a borderline insult to people with disabilities! How are we meant to sympathize with that?!
Twilight Sparkle was a good character, but thanks to the writers and Hasbro, her character development had pretty much been destroyed. Then again, Season 9 of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic wasn't great, and it's a shame the show with the unlikeliest fandom ended on a sour note.
